Thats exactly what happened. But mine cracked the top right corner off, and there is a nice hole in one of the runners. We were just starting to put the manifold back on. I did not even have the studs back in yet and he started to crank the outside bolts down. He said he was not cranking that hard, but I know he was. From now on I am doing all of my work myself. I was quite pissed off.

as long as the bolts are torqued to spec, nothing should crack or fall apart....correct?

NickZed20- Is the manifold new or used? My zip is 33702. See how much it is for two day insured. It does not matter which carrier.

!@#$%- I thought the same thing, but I guess cast aluminum can be brittle.

THATS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!!! my friend got a new torque wrench and he accidentally dialed it up to about 35 ft.lbs cracked the same upper right bolt, right across the injector port. i used bondo to seal it up for the time being, or jb weld. go on clubrsx im sure u can find someone nearby with one. or if u were crazy you could get the toda quad tb one for like 1k$

How many ft/lbs are the intake manifold bolts supposed to be cranked to? I have heard 14ft/lbs. Is this right?

yea its supposed to be 14.. if you dont have a tq wrench, just remember its not supposed to be hi tq, it should be just firm, you can imagine what 14ft/lbs feels like

Do you think that it would be easy to reach 14ft/lbs with a open end wrench?
