what are the smallest rims that will fit over our breaks. I was thinking i could get some 13s from a junk yard do you think these small, light wheels would help at the track?

too small is never too good. we have shitty traction to begin with so smaller, lighter rims would make that even worse. IMO, 14s with some nice beefy drag radials will probably be the best way to go.

Also, forgot to say. 13in wheels are usually significantly more narrow than 14s or 15s, so the contact patch to the ground is small which also cuts down on traction.

Rota does a 13x8 rim: http://miata.cardomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=165576&page=13
But our brake are probably too large.

I grabbed an old 14" wheel from up in the attic and it does fit but it only leaves about 1/8" to 1/4" between the front caliper and the wheel. The wheel I used is actually from an old Chrysler product of some sort. I am not certain what but it does have a pentastar stamped on it. My goal was to get a "real" sparetire to fit into the tire well but it did not fit like I wanted it to. So I have just kept the doughnut.
