i just recieved my meguiars cordless orbital buffer this past sat.
the buffer alone costs $90 but the guy i delt with at meguiars hooked me up with a deal i couldnt pass up.
it included 1 cordless orbital buffer. it comes with 2 batteries,a charger and carry bag. he also includid a foam buffing pad kit with 3 polishing pads and a finishing pad. the pad kit alone cost $25.
he also added 4 ultimate bonnets at $6 a pop.the total came out to be $113 shipped for everything plus they threw in a bottle of the meguiars NXT wax and a spray bottle of there NXT Vinyl protectant.
so basicly i got about $150 worth of stuff for $113.

My old polisher just took a crap, so I ordered a new one. I picked up a Polishmaster 1900, made by Chamberlain. It is a 9" polisher and I got it up from www.waxmaster.com for under $90. It works great and is identical to the discontinued Craftsman Professional polisher. If you are still looking, check it out, I give it one thumb up.

here's a n00b question for you guys...

is waxing by hand better than waxing with a polisher?

an orbital buffer/polisher is allways better to use cause it puts the polish or wax your using on the car much more even and your hand cant orbit or polish like a orbital/polisher can. ;)

you should only need to clay your entire car like 2 times per year if that much. i just did my car for the first time since i bought it.
4 step process
step 1. wash car with dawn dishwashing detergent. using dawn stripps off any old wax and just really cleans the paint of any contaminates. also clean inside of wheels and under the fender wells as best as possible.
step 2. clay magic the entire cars paint surface and then rinse off the clay lube which was auto magic body shine.
step 3. dry the car well and buff the entire cars paint surface with the step 2 meguiars paint polish with a meguiars foam polishing pad with my meguiars cordless polisher and then let that sit for about 20 min then remove.
final step 4. i used my meguiars finishing pad to apply some meguiars NXT Wax. then removed with my new concourse microfiber buffing towel.

link for the towel (http://autopia-carcare.com/mf-cbt.html)

and im now using a california water blade and a Viking Microfiber Drying Towel (http://autopia-carcare.com/vk-988400.html) to dry the car.
my car is now slick as a babys ass. :D
im also planning on adding a second coat of the NXT.

I got a Black & Decker orbital buffer for 30-40 bucks, and it works well.

It's no Porter-Cable, but it's good enough to try regular buffing without spending that much cash.

Damn,

I think you guys finally talked this old school hand polisher into getting a buffer :(

Dan, thanks for the tips. I'll probably be calling Meguiars today.
