I have a set of 16 X 7 slipstreams. I'm not sure if i should get 205,215, 0r 225. Also what tires shyould i get? i want good handling and i am on a budget so a decent tread wear would be nice, but THEY HAVE TO BE GOOD IN THE WET! Something in the same class/level of the RE750s.I went to costco and they quoted me 127 a piece for Potenza RE750 225/50 and 116 for 205/50 there is no 215/50 in this tire. I know these are good tires cuz my friends has them and they are great in the wet.But still 500 on tires what is the treadwere gonna be like in terms of miles? i've heard tire rack is good but costco offeres free roadhazard protection and mount and balance.

well, a wider tire and good rain traction (i.e. hydroplaning resistance) don't exactly go hand in hand. the wider the tire, the more susceptible you will be to hydroplaning.

if you're on a budget, check out Kumhos. they are cheap and make a decent tire. treadwear is supposed to be about the same as the stock tires. but i don't know if Costco offers them.

With your drop you might have tire rub if you go to wide. I am not too sure how to measure for this though.

There is a new Kumho tire out called the Ecsta ASX which has a tread wear rating of 420 and is in the category of an ultra high performance tire. They have gotten very good reviews too. I know tirerack offers them for about $75 a piece. I'm not sure if the place you mentioned carries them.

the Ecsta ASX is a ulta performance all season, how do these compare in tread wear to the 711, 712 and MXs? where do you find information about tread wear? all i can find on tire rack is how other people have rated them.

When you click on the tire there is a link at the top of the page for specs. There is also a link for size + pricing, along with a few other links.

As far as comparing them to the other Kumho tire you mentioned it looks like the ASX's have a better tread wear rating. The 712's are cheaper though so it might equal out in the end. I think the ASX's are supposed to be a little step down in performance from the 712's and MX's, but from the reviews look like they do much better with tread wear, and rain or snow. Personally if it were me I'de get the ASX's in your situation. Second choice would be the 712's, if you are sticking with Kumho.

I'm not sure if you can fit 225's or not.

ok thanks, i found the tread wear ratings, but how do the ratings translat in to miles? also what woyld there be a big performance difference between 45 and 50 series? cuz the tread wear difference is 280 and 340 is this worth it?

Ok I saw you had posted "DIY cut springs aprox. 3.75 inch drop" that is why I thought there may be a problem.

Bridgestone makes a 215/45/16 in the RE010... this tire will blow your mind... ;)

Also, you can get this size in the Falken Sport but, you will have to work harder in the rain! :D

yO the treadwear for the RE750 is HELLA GOOD!!! In the super street issue with all the TIRE RATINGS and what not, they said it was rated around i think...340 or 370? I don't remember EXACTLY but it was along those lines, so $500 for tires that are gonna last longer than most, isn't such a bad price.

they have a 340 rating? but so do the 50 series 712s, i think i'm probably gonnna end up gettin these .btw i just was looking at the parada spec 2 they have a 300 tread rating, they look pretty good but they only make 205 in 16ss this jst seems alittle thin.

Has anyone autocrossed with the 712's or the ASX's? How well do they hold up? Has anyone tried the 711's?
