I'm sure they would if you have a hook up.
Why couldn't a hardware store do it? Make a friend and then have it copied ;)

The computer looks for the resistance value of the key, not for a computer chip. :p

I don't see why not. It's a sidewinder key just like the ones that come with the '03 and '04 Si. Any Honda dealer SHOULD have the ability to set the transponder so it would work with the car as well.

Kick-ass. My avatar picture was worth a whole thread to itself on ephatch.
Almost brings a tear to my eye.:'( :D

Stoop: What would it cost me to get an accord key from your shop with the remote buttons included? What other Honda keys are made with the remote buttons? Thanks.

If you guys are gonna do this make sure you have an 03 or 04 si. The sidewinder keys with the remote buttons on them do not work with the 02 style. Just a heads up.

Also, the transponder on the Accord keys is different.

My dealership had a customer that wanted to do the same thing to his Element key, so he bought an Accord key and he ended up cutting the transponder out of his original Element key and using it somehow in the Accord key. I don't know what else he did to the Accord key, but he got it to work on his Element.

So please people, don't ask me to get keys and make it work woth your '03-04 Si, because I don't know how to make it work. I read about it somewhere on an Element website, so if someone's really that interested, maybe they can look up the information and share it with everyone else.

My picture of the "red H" key came from Honda Japan's website, www.honda.co.jp. I think it was for a Janapese Integra Type R. I can't read Janpanese, so I couldn't tell you if you could order one from Honda Japan or not.:(

Edit: Here's the page where I found the picture of the key --->CLICK ME (http://www.honda.co.jp/INTEGRATYPE-R/about/typer.html)

Ask and it shall be granted:

The following was taken from hondasuv.com

Fellow member dhowse posted a thread on using the all-in-one key and remote fob, made for the Accord, on a CR-V. I thought it was a great idea, so I did it too.

Cost:

$55 From your local Honda Dealer, including cutting the key (Make sure they don

The 03-04 keys in question are laser-cut, so I don't think hardware stores are generally equipped to perform such duplications. Didn't you see gone in 60 seconds? :P

I have an 02 and it slipped my mind that the 03+ are laser cut.

Hmm... tempting. How much would it cost total then (if you did the chip swap yourself)? How much would it cost to get the key cut?

I believe the key and having it cut will cost around $55 or so.

My bad, I didn't realize that the $55 was including cutting the key (although the directions clearly state that). I was tired last night :(

So, if the Accord key has a trunk release, will that do anything? Or will it be non-functional.

While I'm at it, I'll throw up the pictures that go with that HondaSUV post:
