Can't vote on either one, have not tried neither of them.
I got a set D2's on the way, I will tell you about when I test'em.

That would be great. In fact anyone getting D2's should post the results.
Right now I have it narrowed down to D2's or Mugen Sport Suspension, waiting for D2's post to make my decision.

check vendor sales or one of those. they are going cheap!

Buy them from urbanimport.com, you will have to call them, it's not on their site. EP3 spring rates front 8k/ rear 10k.

Holy crap that's pretty stiff, especially the front. That's like 450/560 if you convert it to lb/in. Mugens are only 283/439, but then again they're a little more street oriented. Even progress coilovers are 350/650, but they are race coilovers intended to get more oversteer. I'd like to know how it rides when you get them on. One thing though, I didn't know D2's were offered with 8k spring rates because extra springs are offered only in odd numbers (5k,7k,9k...).

I ordered with 6k front and 12k rear, a good drag setup ;)

IMHO i would not trust these coilovers, lots of people over at 2k1civic.com have been complaining about Hayames and to tell you the truth D2's look exactly the same only with stiffer spring, this may be paranioid but it could be the same manufacturer just painting some product and selling it as something else, i could be wrong and for those that allreadybought them i hope i am

(o by the way EP3, EM2 and ES chassis use the same hayame coilovers)

You cannot go just by the look in comparing the hayame's to the d2's and to say they are the same just rebadged would be false. I can understand your paranoia but many of us have researched the d2's and the hayame's as well as other suspension setups and no matter what someone will get these and write a nice long review for everyone . Then you can make your decision based more on facts rather than assumptions.

edit::: I will be ordering a set of D2's from urban import shortly :)

That's not true, actually. This has been covered eleventy billion times, but the EM2 has 14mm front hub bolts (up till 2003, that is) and the EP3 has 16mm. That means that newer EM2's and all EP3's (minus a few oddballs) would require drilling to fit properly. Nobody has put Hayames on their EP3, that I'm aware of.

I don't think these D2 and Hayame are the same. If you look at the steering arms, they are different. I know that D2 is also branded as K-sport except K-sports are yellow colored. I've browsed through some of the Hayame threads and there doesn't seem to be any real problems other then people getting wrong springs. It does kind of indicate quality control problems but Hayame has never been a marquis brand in the first place. Not as good as a company such as Greddy but not quite as bad as Arospeed or APC. I think a lot of people are just jumping on these because they're tired of riding on stock shocks.

d2, hayame same thing??? woah.. i think you should read a little bit more on them before you say anything about them... there are MAJOR difference between the two other than the color..
hayames have 3 locknuts, steering arm is straight, no adjustable damper, top mount looks different
d2, the steering arm is bent, only the traditional 2 locknut, 36 way adjustable damper...
dont know how you get that they are the same things..

tein flex as well as Jics use 450/560. and i think extra springs are offered in any increments of 1k so its both even and odd figures.

Where did you get those rates from? On their websites, Flex is 448/559 and JIC 502/559. Those are pretty harsh rates already and with 650, rear passengers would be knocking heads if not for our hatch.

oops typo.. i meant 450/560

sorry if i fucked up, i just saw a similar product, at similar price come out right after some people started complaining about the quality of Hayames and made the assumption, i am by no means a suspension expert, or of anything by that matter, just wanted to give an opinion and see what everyone thought about it, also just a question, some people are comparing them to Tein Flex but thats jus cuz of the stats but what about quality wise??

VNlilMAN

Only complaints i've read on the hayames are the rear height issue. Its most likely cause they got the wrong part but those who ordered from urbanimport.com are being taken care of...

as for these being compared to tein flex? i'm assuming your talking about d2. i think all they were comparing between the two are spring rates. They share the same spring rate. Its hard to compare the two, its like comparing apples to oranges mainly because the flex has the 3rd locknut while d2 doesnt. if you want to compare hayame with tein flex, eh you dont have the damper adjustability with hayames so ya once again, its hard to compare.

D2's looks much stronger and more reliable. If had a choice to choose between these two I would go with D2
