I'm curious to know what grade of oil is recommended by Honda for the Civic Type R in Europe? In the States they have gone to 5w-20 for the 160 Hp engine in the Si and 5w-30 for the 200 hp engine in the RSX-S.
Some have expressed theories that the thin 5w-20 & 5w-30 oils are only used to keep fuel mileage high. I've heard that in general, Europeans use thicker oil. Is this the case with the Type R, or do you use 5w-30?
Thanks!

Honda UK told me that they recommend semi-synthetic 10w-40 for every Honda sold there.

Good stuff. I really wish that we had the CTRs here. I picked the Si over the RSX-S, but would gladly have spent the money for the CTR.

As I said earlier, Honda's recommended oil in Europe is semi-synthetic 10w-40.

The 5w-20 that's recommended here is total crap and only for CAFE.

On the reciept from my oil change, honda put that they put in 5w-30.... Could just be a mistake on the reciept, but who knows...

I got 5w-30 mobile 1 synthetic and I get 400 miles on every tank....Gas mileage is not affected...

We tend to use 10w40 semi-syth up to 12k miles, then after 12k we switch to fully synth ;)
