Any word of a block guard for our cars?

i dont even know if we need one anymore? I know the old B series blocks were open decked, are the new K series closed decks? If so a blockguard cant be used/not necessary. --joe

they don't work regardless of whether or not our engines are open deck or closed (but I think they are still open deck). If a block guard is large enough that you can slide it over the cylinders then it is too big to prevent cylinder movement. Cylinders crack with the smallest amount of movement, much smaller tolerances than a block guard can protect. It's like trying to prevent your waist from moving using a hoola-hoop (exaggerated). If the block guard is welded to the deck and cylinders then it may be more effective, but a slip fitment is not of any benefit. I've seen engines with cracked cylinders and the block guard didn't do anything to help. hth

Its still an open deck. Read this in an old issue of HT. I beleive it was the first segment of the K series talk.
