Engine Oil & Filter

[EP3.. 2.. 1 GO]

I'm close to 20k milage on my Si and on this weekend I'll be changing engine oil & oil filter.
1)Should I stay with the one that's the owner's manual says 5W-20???
2)My other qustions is should I use normal or syntetic oil???What brand would be the best???
3)What would be the best oil filter???

Ps. I'm changing my oil every 5k miles.

I use mobil 1 5w-30 with a honda filter.

all I ever use is a factory filter. auto makers will not risk warranty claims by producing inferior filters.

I have never had a problem with mobil 1, but an uncle of mine showed me a smear test where amsoil beat mobil 1. they were the top 2 that were in that test and he is trying to change my opinion. until wal-mart starts selling amsoil, I will continue using mobil 1.;)

I work with a gentlemen that is a retired mechanic from the METRO bus system in DC and Baltimore. He was telling me a little while back that the government spent a few million dollars researching synthetic motor and transmission oils to see if it was worth the switch from conventional for all of their buses...long story short, the Mobil 1 seemed to have the best results and he noticed that the buses went almost twice as long before needing overhauls to the engines and transmissions after the switch :eek:

He's not one to talk $h!t either, I mean he worked their for 27 years, was sent to Germany for almost a year to help them design new transmissions, etc and he used to be heavy into drag racing as well...

Ok, I've choose the oil, which is Mobile 1 0W-20, but I'm not sure about the filter yet. Maybe I'll go with K&N Performance oil filter.

Anybody would recomend something good???

Anybody would recomend something good??? i use both mobil 1 oil and filter. thinking of switching filters though because i have to drive really far to buy one and i think other filters are just as good. i worry about starving the engine of oil because i auto-x and hit rev limiter quite a lot...

I run the mobil 1 filter and oil..change every 5K

I was going to go factory untill I read a report on how much of a piece of crap the US spec filters are.. the ones that come on the EP from Japan are good but the ones you buy in the US suck..

I also have to drive a ways to get my Mobil 1 filter so I buy more then 1 when I do it..:D

amsoil it great if you want to spend the money. my brother in law ran it in his jeep and it was so good that it made the torque converter last untill the vechicle was out of warrenty to go out :eek:

For that much, I'd just buy the K&N Gold filter. I've been running that on the parents RX300, the Mustang, and my bro's '02 Accord for a while now and I like it :)

It has a 1" nut welded to the back of it for easy removal, as well ;)
