View Full Version : Ordered Neuspeed Race Springs - NEW SI MODEL!

CleanBlackSi02
10-10-2002, 07:58 AM
Well, I just ordered Neuspeed race springs to replace my incorrect 2001+ Civic Ground Control coilovers. These ARE meant for the 2002 Civic Si...I made sure to get the correct model # from Neuspeed. (It's a new product, out as of last week!) If you're interested the # is 55.20.69 and it drops 2.5" in the front and rear. I'll let you all know how they turn out once I get 'em installed.

$190. I'm working with the guy that screwed up my GC order. He's giving me a store credit to pay for the install, so it's all gravy.

Nice.

I'd like to take a ride in it after you get it done. I'm considering not waiting for the H&R cup kit just so I can get the damn thing lowered. I need the extra traction.

BTW--Where are you having the work done at?

Prestons off of Copans near 95. I've brought my cars there for awhile.

What are they charging and what do they do? (Alignment, camber correction, etc?)

BTW--I'm ordering my short shifter this weekend. If you want to see installed with the rear strut bar, I'll be tackling them next weekend. (At least the bar, hopefully the SS too.)

Naw, they're just doing the install. Unfortunately they don't have an alignment rack for me there. I definitely would like to check out that short shifter! I'll PM you with the rest.

actually, make sure you have all messages from the beginning selected, and then use the pull down menu to select: inbox, message tracking, and sent (something like that), you'd be surprised how many you have :)

youre on stock shocks? arent you on stock shocks with your car lowered about 2.5" with the gc's? is the camber bad with it that low? what about shocks?

HondaMan

Wow, 2.5 inches seems like a lot! Looking forward to seeing some pics of it that low.

CleanBlackSi02
10-10-2002, 02:13 PM
Yep...I'm on stock shocks. I had race springs on my Prelude's stock shocks for months and I never had problems. I had the GC's around 3" to start on my stock Si shocks and no problems as well. (Bouncy though...cuz of the fact that they were for the 2001+ Civic). I plan on getting aftermarket shocks, probably Koni's in six months. As far as camber...its perfect in the front! Factory specs with no kit. The rear had 2.6 degrees negative camber on the right, and .8 on the left. I'll be getting a rear camber kit eventually.

you'll probably be just fine. We have to remember it's not like the previous gen civics....we have a lot of wheel gap....like in your pic with a 3" drop....it was still even with the fender well. Do that to a prev. gen. civic and the wheels we be tucking! :)

they got me the wrong shocks for my 02 si as well, (my shop).

I let them know and they ordered the shocks and are replacing them for free....

They have places out in tampa in miami too. much props to them sucking up the mistake.

you know koni has some out right? but the front stock shocks have to be cut and then a koni perch put on top.

I've seen people talk about this on their ep3, it was like months ago. But really, I'd wait and get some that replace the shock completely. I don't want to cut my stock shock

To my knowledge the Sport springs are only out for the 2001+ Civic. However, Downthehatch has 'em and said the ride is good...

I got an e-mail just last week from Neuspeed saying that they were still working on the other kits. I would cut and paste it, but I think I may have deleted it.

The one that downthehatch has, lowers 2.0 and 1.75 in the rear. But again, I believe that it is for the 2001+ Civic.

yes, i can go over speed bumps straight...on driveways, depends on how bad it is...on the most extreme driveways, of course i take it slow and angled...but on most, i'll take them straight..trust me, they lower the car alot, but not to the point of it being unsusable...EP's are built with decent ground clearance...when i had my DA integra, it was tucked snug 1 finger in front and loose 1 finger in back, and it scraped like hell, cuz DA's were built lower...but on EP's, it isnt as bad.

No more bouncy 2001+ GC's for me!
The race springs are very comfortable (till you hit a big bump going fast and bottom out...that hurts) and handle excellently. The race springs don't clang around, but click very quietly once and awhile. Very faint... Two thumbs up so far!

No rubbing at all. Then again I do have the stock 195/60 size tires. I'm sure you could probably go with a 205 and never rub, and even a 215/40/17 without worrying about rubbing through aggressive turns. They're race springs, but they're not that low in comparison to most of the race springs out for the previous gen acura/honda cars.

I bought it from Tornactive with a store credit for around $150 front and rear. I wouldn't recommend them though, because I was sent wrong parts, got screwed over, and shipping took forever.

I'm just guessing on the price. Roughly that much... It was specialty products kits for the 2001+ Civic and RSX. It's the same.
