Someone brought this up in the "What kind of gas do you use in your car forum" but I figured my question my get lost in there... so here goes...

Occasionally my intake, an Injen Race Divison CAI will backfire(or frontfire:).. or atleast I blame the CAI. My car never did this with the stock box... so I am sure it has to doo with the Injen.. It normally occurs if I accel again after any kind of quick accel and let-off... I use 89 mid-grade in my EP. And this "backfire" happens maybe once every 3- or so hours of driving.. and almost always during street/city driving as opposed to highway driving(More steady throttle input used is my guess)

So my question is.. Is this a sign that my intake is responsible? or that maybe a bad Sensor is now showing itself because of the extra stress from the CAI? When it happens it is always once.. and never in spurts or anything... but I am worried and don't want to have to put in 93 or anything just to solve this issue. Thanx

I don't think it is the intake because I put the stock back on and it still does it, However this had never occured until I installed the after market intake. So my point is that the backfire may have been caused by the intake but putting the stock back on now won't fix it.

Mine did it last weekend with a V2. Scared the poop out of me.

My AEM V2 short ram also does the same thing, but it does it like once every 3 weeks or something. I'm changing into a cold air intake soon though.
