not at all with a Injen CAI installed. I was counting on it going down much more... I get 29.5 mpg avg / tank. And I'm on it... a lot... hard.

how the hell do you get good mileage like that when ur hard on it.... when im at the softest like.. never passed 3k, i can barely get 29mpg.. when im even hard on it once, i get like 20mpg...

i think people in southern ca get less mpg. seems like people in other states are getting better mpg. i think this is because of the traffic in ca. i get around 200mi a tank, and around 220 if im lucky. this is all stock.

Yeah, I get the same mph (200-220 a tank). Definitely the traffic.

I just got 360mi out of my last tank, I was running 96 octane and octane booster and I was driving it hard. I don't know how it happened, it was a fresh counter, no miles left on it. And this tank is looking even better I just have 96 octane, still driving it hard and I'm at 200mi at half tank.

Something happened to make my car get awesome mileage, it still runs just as fast if not faster. Maybe that octane booster cleaned up my engine, or it reset the ECU. And these are city miles not highway miles.

odd......:o

Im not trying to talk shi+. If your going to upgrade the parts on your Si to make it more powerful and faster, then the last thing you should worry about is gas mileage.

Plus Cali only has 91oct to offer. Wouldnt mind hittin that 96 your runnin... IM gettin about 270-290 miles per tank... But i have only filled up twice, with just under 600 miles on the engine.

BAD gas mileage=MBTE in the gas(around a10% MPG loss)+out side chance is Calif.emission cars get worst gas mileage. The Civic VX (49 state cars) get about 6mpg more than Cali. VX cars & JDM VX's gets a lot more MPG (don't have ##'s).

I have found that when I run 94 octane and booster, I get 50kms more out of the tank. Go figure. I just switched back to reg. 87 (not booster) and noticed the dam thing is sippin alot faster. I drive it hard either way and am wondering why higher octane seems to go further?

As far as having the CAI on I have no comparison, installed it the day I picked her up.

Octane Booster or Hi-octane=Better MPG because it reduces KNOCKING ,which retards timing. Here in lies the problem it's not cost effective to run.Money better spent elsewhere in the Si.
If you're running Octane booster, you may want to check your plugs more often for a biege sand colour build-up on the eletrodes.

You'll probably notice a drop in highway MPG w/CAI ,but not cityMPG.Don't feel bad CAR &DRIVER got 23MPG on a 800 trip(stock Si).

my mileage seems to have gotten much worse since I installed my K&N intake, and I'm talking mostly highway driving, not sure why yet, trying to figure it out.

Very odd...I get anywhere from 30-32 mpg highway, using only 87 octane from texaco. No point going higher octane, (been hashed out in another thread). City i'm about 24- 26 mpg. I live in california, no mods at all...except the 200 lbs. of stereo equip. in the trunk. Oh, and no i'm not driving lightly either. I was rippin through the mountains, constant 5000 rpms+ and still got 31 mpg. Weird shit i'd say...

Of course technically you should notice a loss, but I am still a happy
camper either way. Sacrifice power and pleasure for gas. um sure!:D
