Why do you almost always suggest incorrect tire sizes? This tire size is nearly 5% smaller than stock. That's WAY too small.

205/55-15 is already 1.6% smaller than stock, but that's closer to stock than a 50-series tire.

how is it "incorrect"? it's small, yes, and will throw off the speedo reading, but it's hardly incorrect. it's personal preference.

So, an incorrect speedometer reading isn't "incorrect" enough? Come on. How about changing your overall gearing? Do you think Honda engineers picked transmission gear spacing out of thin air? No, they were chosen based on a certain tire diameter.

So, where do you draw the line? Is a 5% difference is okay, is 10%? Or 20%? Could I run, say, motorcycle tires? Are those a matter of "personal preference"?

+/-3% is the the widely-accepted rule for deviation from stock. That's for good reasons based on what the car was engineered for, not just personal preference.

geez, dude, chill. i understand what you're saying, and you are correct, but there's a big difference between a 205/50 tire and a motorcycle tire. now you're putting words in my mouth. all i'm saying is that if the man wants to run a 205/50, then run a 205/50. it's not going to kill his car, but i'll retract and say it's technically incorrect.

The original poster asked "what is the best tire size for 15x7 slips?" 205/50 is not the best size. Yes, you can run it, but it's further from stock diameter -- by a significant amount -- than other choices.

Sorry to jump all over you but I get frustrated when people give questionable advice to less-knowledgable owners without qualifying their answers. It doesn't help the guy looking for some basic, sound advice.

It looks like the largest 15 is 205/50. 205/60-15 wouldn't be such a bad choice -- it's about 2% larger, which is similar to a 215/45-17. Too bad it's not available.

i'll say that "best" tire size would depend on what plans he has for the car. i wouldn't go with a 60-series tire because i need a stiffer sidewall for auto-x. but for daily driving, yeah, a 205/60 wouldn't be a bad choice.

so, KingGreg, what will the tire be used for?

I just bought 205/50-15

I thing the best setup on 15x7 is 205/55 but it depend on what is important for you.

well, mostly for street use, but as i get to know my car a little better, and i get some more performance upgrades i wanna start auto-x. definatly wanna get falken azines(spelling??) just wondering what will keep my speedo close but still meatier than stock.

Ding ding ding!!! I win!!! 205/55-15. :D

Unfortunately, they don't make Azenis Sports in that size, but those are a little extreme for a daily driver anyhow. Bridgestone S-03s would be a better choice. Or ContiExtremeContacts if you need something all-season but still high-performance.
