depends...you can get a widebody kit and get wider tires than you would be able to fit in the stock wheel well

Keep in mind that if you're going to autocross, 225 is the maximum allowed for STS.

225s have been done, never heard of anyone running any wider than that.

If you get some wheel spacers you could probably go out to 245, but you're tires would protrude a bit from the fender.

what is the widest rim you can run with 225's?

I would imagine that a 7" or 7.5" wheel is recommended for a 225 series. I'm sure you could run wider but would obviously run into bigger fitment issues.

Just curious, where are you going with this?

Welcome to my world. 235's here for a couple of months now and no probs. They are near flush with the wheel wells and no rubbing on the pro-kits. They are as wide as I know of, yet you could probably squeeze 245's under there too. They would pose some problems with rub, depending on the offset. I am running 17's with +42 offset.

That's good to know. I have a friend who wants to run the 225 series Azenis on his 17" wheels. Problem is that the Azenis typically run wider than advertised so the 225 is probably closer to 235 or maybe even more. He wasn't sure whether he would have rubbing issues or not.

burgh, i just mounted a set of the 225/45-17 falken azenis sport rt215 on some volk ce28n 17x7.5 43 offset wheels and there appears to be no rubbing while sitting on sportlines. i have about -2

update. got the alignment done on the new 225/45-17 falken azenis sports yesterday to -1.5

Been in my sigi all along if you cared to read it. I don't understand these folks who say they need a camber kit with the prokits? Never had a wear problem with it. There is very little if any camber from the prokits. Over a year with various wheel/tire setups on them and never an issue. 235's are grippy as hell in the twistys.:p
