View Full Version : Frustrated!

Man, I'm so frustrated right now I could just scream!!! I love my 18" wheels and tires, but they're rubbing/scraping on the inner fender. I hear this happen often-so I've taken it back a couple of times to the place where I bought them, and the guy who had driven it says he doesn't hear it. I've asked him about spacers, but he told me that should be a LAST RESORT.:(

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated :)

Help! :'(

Your drop is too low.
Switch springs or get Sleeved coilovers and raise it up.

Wrong offset on rims or tires are too wide. You can either sell them and get the right offset rims or use wheel spacers. Is it scraping when you make U-turns or just turns in general?

It's scraping when I go down a bumpy road AND when the wheel is turned all the way to the right. It's only the drivers side front that's scraping.

Please don't be pissed! In my honest opinion, 18's are ridiculously big for a civic. Why don't you get a wicked set of 16's and be done with it... ;)

I'm thinkin' that's the route I'm probably going to have to take:(

I have 18's also and I have had no problem with scraping. I have it dropped with the Eibach Sportlines which I believe is 1.5" My tires are 235/35/18. What are you lowered with? I say keep the 18's. I think they feel the fenderwell up very nice. Check your offset though because that seems to be the biggest problem.

Good luck

I've got H&R with a 2" drop. The wheels: 18 x 7.5 4-100, and the tires are 225/40ZR18

235-35-18 tires are you crazy????
i have 215-35-18 on 18x7.5 and progress drop and i don't rub if you have a 18x7.5 rim i would recomend that you should be ok even with a 2in drop or you can take it to 215-40.... anymore and i would go widebody to fit it. just my .02

Roll the fenders! or just pound it with a bull hammer!

i dont see how wheel spacers would fix the problem. probably make it worse. take some powder like chalk or baby powder and rub it on the edge of the tire and drive around to make it rub. pull over and see where it rubbed the powder off. then you can try and roll that part of the fender, if its just the liner thats rubbing you could just dremel it.

It's definately the drop. I couldn't get 215.45.17's on my car with a 2.25" drop without rubbing - I wound up getting Eibach Sportlines (1.5" drop) and all became well with the world.....
