Can you post a link to that? I'm interested.

I've been looking into this, and if you were to cut about .25" off the threads on the tie rod, then shave .25" off the tie-rod end piece, you would be able to get .4 or so more negative camber with 0 toe or toe out.

If I run into a cheap set of arms and ends, I'm definitely going to try this mod.

I hope you mean camber because our toe is adjustable. But for the camber if your staying on 15's you can drop 2 inches without the camber kit but if you are dropping lower than that or are running 17's you may want to invest in it.

$280 is steep but it's an interesting piece and could be well worth it, especially since it's the only option out right now.

Quick question (from someone who really hasn't thought too hard about it yet) - could you somehow put more threads on the tie rod for more adjustability. Wouldn't that sort of help our situation with the automatic toe in when you try to dial in a lot of camber? Basically, our tie rods are too long right now right?

My alignement specialist and I have put alot of thought into fixing this, even as a business.

The problem with the tie rods, is the threads end right where the tie rod becomes square, so you'd have to lathe it round before you add any more threads... but still, the end link itself, that the threads go into has a point where it bottoms out anyways.

I'll put up some diagrams of the situation shortly...

OK, here is my idea for fixing toe:

Blastech: You da man! That's a pretty innovative way to solve the problem without having to deal with adding more threads to the tie rod.

BTW, any idea about the legality of this mod for solo2?

People really bend the rules hard, then turn around and dispute others for doing the same thing... technically, the Injen CAI is not STS legal, because you have to "modify the car" when you relocate the fuse box.

I wouldnt dispute it, even it if someone beat me with it...but then again, I wont ever go to nationals, because I'm in it for the fun, not to prove anything.

In my case, becoming a good enough driver to compete at nationals sounds like fun! :D

I definitely want to become a good enough driver to compete in nationals... and I have the priveledge of losing against national-level people at every event I go to. :D

But something about the nationals event atmosphere (that is an entirely different kind of game from the local clubs) is just too much effort, expense, and seriousness for my style... I mean I'm pretty intense about competing, but I have so much room to improve on the local levels, even thinking about nationals is futile

Here's one example about the nationals atmosphere:

They say on the local level, autocross is 90% won by the driver and 10% is the car and its setup.

On the national level, all the drivers are on the optimal level of skill, and the role of the vehicle and setup becomes the 90% deciding factor... and while our EP3s are good enough to trounce on an NSX at local level (like I did this Sunday)...they are no match for an trailored-in 89 Si in the nationals arena.

This is all my opinion, and I realize some people find the Nationals atmosphere to be exciting and fun in itself, regardless of driving the course. Its just too big of a "to-do" for me to have fun at they way I do in local clubs.

the national champion from my class (sts) is from our (burgh and my) region and it's quite humbling to get ripped every month by 2-5 seconds. it does push you a little - if you're competitive.

Heh, but pressure *IS* fun. :D After about 12 or so events under my belt, I still get nervous sitting at the start line. I can't imagine what that feels like sitting at the start line at Nationals. Gotta get myself there!

Anyways, back on topic about the tie rod mod - I need to go price a set of tierods for the EP. Seems like this mod would take about 5 mins with a cutoff wheel. I actually have access to a machine shop at work so I'll let you guys know if I give it a shot sometime soon.
