To retain the stock wheel diameter you can run a 195/60, 205/55, or a 225/50. If memory serves me those are the most common and likely the least expensive.

dunlop 205/55 sp8000s z rated, they have amazing grip in dry and wet. so sticky little pices of gravel get embedded in the rubber:eek:

Ive been running on 205/50 Falken Azenis' for the past year and love them. You might run a couple of mph faster than what your speedo says with these, but I havent had any problems with being pulled over.

Actually you run slower than what your speedo says 60 on speedo = 56 actual

get 205/55s. You could get 225/50 but unless you autocross, it really is unecessary.

actually its faster since you have less tire to roll 60=63

the more tire you have the slower you'll go, the smaller the tire the faster you'll go hence thats why drag cars use 14 inch slicks versus 17 inch slicks.

Oh and also brake manufacturers and tire manufacturers will say that a mismatched tire can cause brake failure. Since im running a 50 series tire the wheel is going to spin faster than it should at the same speed as a 55 or 60 series tire and my brakes have to work harder.

I'm not sure but I think your saying that 205/50r15's are actually making your speedometer read slower than you are actually going if this is true than here.

when your speedo reads 60 you are actually traveling 57.2

Drag racers go with smaller tires because it's less mass for the motor to spin, and it changes the effective gearing to favor acceleration.

The speedometer doesn't notice what size wheels you have. It's calibrated so that x rotations/minute = y miles/hour.

If you put on tires with a smaller outside diameter, they'll go less distance per rotation. Bigger tires will go farther per rotation. The speedometer will read the same rotations/minute to read 60 mph regardless of tire, but the smaller tires will travel less distance, and are therefore SLOWER than the speedometer indicates.

Well I did another one of those speed meters and it said that my tire was also too fast but my speedo would be reading slower than what I was really going.

But we have one of those radar trailers running around here, police put it up, and it is saying that im about 3to 4 mph slower than what my speedo says.

I guess that other site was wrong, wish I knew what the link was so I could go back and correct them.

Sorry for the confusion:confused:

Don't sweat it -- a bit of misinformation got passed along, that's all.
