hmm... isnt the hatch itself different? why is it that we have to mod the ctr spoilers to fit our cars?

well my car a 2004 already has the 5 lugs lol, so that one is already taken care of, so now im just gonna do the small stuff like the coin holder, the red badges, the spoiler, and the type r grill.

and that does kinda suck that the spoiler needs a mod to fit correctly, you would think it would fit perfectly huh

You have 5 lugs but you don't have the brakes. +1 to the list. :D

you know i didnt even think about that one. ha.... atleast now i know that i need a brake upgrade for a true type R. see and people might have thought this thread was of no use. now all we need is to get some part numbers researched. anyone know how to read japanese?????lol cuz im sure on the japanese websites you can find parts, and part numbers.

for a jdm ep3 ctr:
full k20a1 swap
exhaust system
two red recaros
jdm black front lamp, and taillights
full ctr suspension (5 lug)
front bumper
rear bumper
side skirts
rear wing, but before that, in order to in real ctr, you will have to change the rear wind sheild and upper trunk
uk flat, front and rear type-r sign, type-r sticker on the side skirt
17" ctr rims with potenza re-040
ctr calipers front and ctr rotors and pads for front and rear
ctr shift boot and knob, ctr steering wheel, cluster, floor mats
front and rear red Hs
rear jdm sway bar
finally go to a good body shop and get the sun roof away and paint the car with any type-r colors of your choice

it is way cheaper to be uk ep3 ctr:
type-r sign on the oem si seats
full k20a2 swap
full type-s suspension (5 lug)
ctr calipers for the front and rotors f/r

(the rest same as above)

is cheaper to import one, or use after market parts like: tein re coilovers, willwood 4-pot brakes, sparco seats, strut bars, usdm lip kit, DIY front lamp.....

i think you'll save much more money by just importing the type r over thatn changing your si into a type r

anyone have an idea how much that might cost to import the CTR's from either england or japan? i know that to get a skyline over here its about $80,000 to $90,000 grand. i would never pay something like that to get a CTR over here. maybe the most id pay to get a CTR here is about $25,000-$30,000 max.

The hard part isn't getting one over here, it's getting it through customs and making it street legal, which is where a lot of the cost comes from.

EtherGhost
05-03-2004, 10:46 AM
The only reason you can legally drive a Skyline on the streets here is because Motorex crash did crash tests and submitted the results to NHTSA. The Type-R would not be street legal, because it has not been crash tested.

*edit* here is the import eligibility list, http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/ELIG102803.html

Notice that the Skyline is eligibile under VCP rules. The only Civic that appears on that list is the 1989 DX.

whoah time out

i know having a k20a(1) would be completely awesome in our ep3s but doesnt the ctr have the k20a2

im not trying to be a dick because i understand that if youre going to spend so much on the a2 you might as well get the itr k20a.

but i just thought the real ctr had the k20a2

Mugen Power
05-03-2004, 03:07 PM
I was under the assumption that the European CTR had the A2 while the JDM had A(something). The JDM one pumps out more power and I don't think it's also called an A2.

dofu

k20a = integ type-r
k20a2 = integ type-s, civic type-r
jdms do pump out a bit more power, but consider the higher octane they run over there too

Mugen Power
05-04-2004, 05:24 AM
Yeah, I'm aware of the higher octane and the different tuning that would account for that and the higher power but just remembered the debates over whether or not it's the same motor.

if u want a skyline like this hawaii SKYLINE (http://www.teamrice.org/tr4.0/romeo.html) just move there and import it they are prob cheaper and less customs i would assume...

hey doesnt the JDM Type-R have the navigation system similar to that of the accord?????

Mugen Power

It's just an option and that's the reason why our center console is so big.

Nice ad in on the shaving the moon roof, but you all forgot the type r serial # plate on the center console, and the serial #, engine number, trans number and chassis code plate for the radiator support. Also dont forget the radiator and the cap. Also heard the ctr has Power Steering fluid which our usdm ep's have EPS

so youre saying the jdm ctr is pumping
just as much power as the jdm itr is?
