I like this header better than Comptech, cuz it's cheaper.
Like it better than DC header, cuz it doesn't have a flex pipe.
Putting on the Thermo Wrap!:D

Only 1 inch on the primary tubes with stainless steel straps done so far, the rest of will be done with 2 inch thermo wrap when they come in tomorrow by FEDEX. Will be putting on this weekend and selling my current setup.

Hopefully I won't have problems that cpu519 had with his stock sway bar. I currently have ST sway bars. I think I might have to buy the Neuspeed front sway bar for clearance that cpu519 posted in his thread.

It is NOT necessary for thermo wrap, just preference.

Finished up the wrap this evening, the 2 inch wrap came in today.:D

Summit (www.summitracing.com)
Jegs (www.jegs.com )
places like that.

I have no CEL probs cuz I have the JDM ECU ;)

You will have to buy an O2 sim from casperelectronics (http://www.casperselectronics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=104053&Category_Code=honda)
Yes, the O2 SIM tricks the ECU into having a cat by giving it the proper readings.

here's the link to the page with the price that i found, it might click to work or you might have to type it, sorry. once in the link for manufacture scroll down to jackson racing and then the part number section type in the entire part number(jar-989-301) and it will come up.

It was supposed to be on sale until the 30th is what my sales rep said. Guess they pushed up the price change cuz everyone else was making more off of it.
I ordered mine on 04/14/04, just tell them that a sales rep (you don't remember his name) told you $466.39 + 8.95 (handling charge)(free shipping) and see if they will honor it. Also tell them that you were told the price would be good until the end of this month.

i'm sooooooo bullshit at summit racing right now. i called them on the phone to order the header and they told me the current price was $585.00 and the promo price of $466.00 had ended yesterday and they woulnd.t budge on the price. WTF:mad: , so i'm back waiting again for a good deal on this damn race header!!!

bioevolve

Well, gonna have to get the neuspeed front sway bar. Header is hitting the sway:( .
Bad part is the O2 sensor #1 is in the way of spring loaded bolt, don't know if if this right. Also it is hitting the heat shield of the exhaust channel upon starting up the car. Will fix that later.

So, I had to compromise until I get something done.

Hmm. I wonder if I could use that exhaust wrap on the Greddy midpipe before I install the EVO exhaust. That should help protect it from scraping right?

BTW, nice header! :D Let us know how it feels once you get it on.

Sorry stupid question, but what is the purpose of the heat wrap?

Have not and will not know until I break in the new clutch/flywheel ;) 500 miles

it will but once it wears thru that it will look like crap, you will have material hanging from the mide pipe.

fsugatorbait Sorry stupid question, but what is the purpose of the heat wrap?

to control heat, helps keep surrounding areas cooler, keeps the inside exhaust temps high and stable for faster expellin ;) :D More power  every bit counts.

LOL yeah, megan test pipe felt the the car was breathing better, obviously nothing blocking the exhaust flow much. :D

Exhaust is alittle higher now :D sanded the scrapes and dings on the mide pipe then spray painted it (high temp black paint).

A quick question on this header....

I was considering it, for the power. What does it add to the exhaust volume? I'm thinking of oversizing my midpipe, but leaving the stock muffler. Wife will kill me if it's to loud! :)

might do a supertrapp muffler down the line....depends on noise level. the car is so smooth and quiet, I hate to do what I did with my old Si....loud! :)

bioevolve
05-09-2004, 08:16 PM
It adds more power by managing the exhaust to evacuate more efficiently and quickly. Having stock muffler with this header, My opinion, would be a waste of money but to each his own. You wouldn't get the full effect.

i could have sworn that i've seen some dyno's on here somewhere showing that the stock muffler flows very well.

badcivicsi
05-10-2004, 01:00 AM
Yeah, I know how it all works ;)

and yes, I heard the STOCK muffler is actually quite good. by replacing the midpipe, you can pick up quite a few ponies. nice sound AND power? :)

bioevolve
05-10-2004, 06:52 AM
Yes, I have heard that also. But still not getting the full potential out of you exhaust system.;)

As you can see it is higher in the center and doesn't lean forward as much to clear the race header, but neupeed is hollow 27 mm, ST is solid 25mm (more rigid) which I like better but gotta clear the race header :(.

Pretty sure if you was to get the hotchkis end links, you can adjust the tilt forward.

Will be installing the neuspeed in this weekend.

What's the difference between type s and si JR race header.
I thought top portion header would be identical and only difference was the down pipe?

I emailed JR and havn't got any respond yet.

EnJaNir

Paul The actual header I believe is identical, the difference lies in JR's "b-pipe" The si is shorter then the rsx's
