Hey Guys!

I was just wondering if you had the option of selling the EP3 to buy a 01/02 trans am with ram air would you? Thoughts/comments would be appreciated!:)

300 rwhp and 340wtq all from a NA engine is cool. Plus, if you supercharge it you can run 10s.

What makes you think this person is a guy?

Yeah, you will lose on the sale. Trans AM, likes the gas and the insurance :D

I had a 1998 Z28 a few cars back. My wife has a 2000 Camaro as her "toy" car. She also drove a 1997 V6 Firebird for 3 years for 65 miles every weekday in every conceivable weather from blizzards to torential rains. Solid car, never let her down.

The Z28 and Trans Am are quite similar and use the same drivetrain. Lots of torque.

The LS1 (1998 to 2002) is a nice motor, though the LT1 (1993 to 1997)sounds a bit more agressive. I did like the feel of the 6 speed manual (IMO the only way to buy these cars). Torque all day long at any rev. Definitely tons of power all of the time.

I averaged 24 mpg with my LS1 with 40 % city driving. They are quick/strong, but the cars are relatively heavy and they feel that way. Brute force type of feel to the cars. Decent brakes. Did I mention there is a ton of torque in the V8's?

My wife's '97, my '98 and our current 2000 were/are solid cars with minimal problems. Lots of plastic, but GM kinda got it right finally with the final generation of F-Body (as compared to previous F-Body cars). Not many, if any, squeaks and rattles to any of our cars. Lots of torque. Insurance was not bad at all for my car, though I was married and over 25 when I had it. The '00 insurance is basically free, though we are even older now...

With my wife's car all cleaned up, her in it and the T-tops off, you'd think it was a Ferrari the way people gawk at this relatively cheap car... Maybe it's just the hick area that we live in...

You won't mistake it for the build quality of a Honda, but if you like how they look, test drive several, make sure they are for you and go for it if you like it.

Good Luck,

Jay

Yes, probably the hicks gawking.
Fast cars, but definitely the hillbilly dream car ;)
Toooons of them around the Chicagoland area. Everywhere you look.
I'd take one if the insurance wasn't so ridiculous or the inevitable expensive repairs (too many bad experiences with GMs).

"Fast cars, but definitely the hillbilly dream car"

I bought my '98 for the V8 and to try something different, but I only put 4000 miles on the thing in a year and sold it. Just didn't do it for me... Too heavy... My wife loved her '97 and her '00 (she grew up with 5 older brothers who lived and breathed these monsters) so we still have one in the household. I'm not gonna argue with a woman who likes fast cars with manual transmissions...

I concurred! I will bet my next pay check you would be so shock about the resale value of the Firebirds including WS6! Aint't worth peanuts!
