My Ep3 backfired today, while driving home?

Holy Poop! My car backfired today, funny thing is I was totally driving like a grand ma when it occurred. I was turning a corner, probably giving the car less than 1/4 of throttle. Went to down shift from 3rd to 2nd in preparation to stop at the ahead stop sign, when...... Bang! Pow! I

INTAKE POP, not backfiring.

Cause: unknown, but is know to occur in many free flowing intakes
Damage: unknown but unlikely

alot of peeps have had backfiring...run a search for the engine section...youll find alot of answers...

from what i recall alot of people with SRI and CAI have had backfiring some more than others...

I have only had my intake "pop" once. My car likes to "backfire" out the exhaust under downshifting. Also it "backfires" between shifts, usually 2nd to 3rd.

Best to ask the intake manufacturer or Honda engineers. Damage is likely because it is abnormal. Never heard of this problem w/B-series or H-series.

My Si motor did it once with the V2 intake. But my A2 hasnt done it at all.

Whats funny is it happend when I was trying to restart the car after I apparently blew the motor:D

1fastminivan and I kind of laughed cause it was ironic that it finally popped when I really did blow the motor!!
