oH PAXIE, Just imagine how much more you could get out of that engine if you parked the intake outside the engine compartment, seems closer to the heads, not really efficient. If looks are what you wnaaaad, then it is a good hose, just need to hide the filter away from the heads. thats all.

Looks good. But I agree a true CAI would have been a better power gainer.

Cool i will do that next. get a shield.

I got the carbon fiber from a local company. and I looked real hard to find away to get the filter to the front of the car but crap, THERES NO ROOM

Dam batt, and radiator was in the way, when i take off the front bumper to do some more mods ill TRY to make one that goes to the front for sure, but ill keep you posted.

I paid about 110 for materials, but it took me about 2 days.

I have fiberglassed before

I will make another one and will sell this one when im doine with the new one. This one has AMAZING Responce throughout the hole RPM band, and NO LAG from stock when getting to 4,700rppm for Vtec

do you think you still have room to fit a larger filter in there? like a k&n filter?

nevermind. i just read your reply in the other thread. why does your filter look so small? the filter on the typhoon intake is huge.

good job, dont you need to bake carbon fiber in extreme heat for it to bond properly? Hmmm let me know more how you made it so perfect. did you use an aftermarket piece and just lay your Cf over it? Also were is the company that you were able to buy the Cf from. --thanks good job --joe

Dumbest shit I've heard all day...

Had a guy in waterloo ask me if I wanted to run my car on the dyno, but only with the stock intake, for free. He was out to prove somehow that he could get better results on my car with the stock intake vs. my AEM CAI??????????

Even while he was laughing on the phone, I was like wtf, does he think he can get better dyno runs without my CAI????

Shit I had to hangup, but dam, why even call?

I buy it from dupont, it is easy to use.

first I find a Flexable hose, then lube it up with petroleum jelly then start with carbonfiber ( I use epoxy for curing.)
Epoxy that to the hose. then let it dry. now slide the hose out of the carbon now you have the start. now sand and layer agin. i used 3 layers.

you dont need to "bake" it because the epoxy hardens great. the reason for "baking is to take ALL the air bubbles out of the fiber and "vacuum" out the excess air, for more ridgidity.

I didn't need that because when i lay my epoxy on the carbon i use my hands to RUB out the air, hence no need for the bake. and it only takes about 1-2 hours for each layer to get hard enuf to sand and coat the next one. PM me if you want one.

Paxie relaxi dude, you have your intake, I have mine, take it as it comes. You did some work and should feel proud. I like doing my own mods too. Just don't be afraid of constructive thoughts, thats all.

Good job by the way.

Honda Tuning article comparing all the air intakes for the RSX Type S K20A2 engine. I was pretty surprised by the results. The Cold Air Intakes kick butt! .

Here are the horsepower increases:

AEM CAI +20.7hp

DC Sports CAI +19.7hp

DC Sports SR +9.2hp

Injen SR +9.2hp

Jackson Racing SR +7.8hp

K&N Typhoon +7.4hp

AEM SR +5.4hp

K&N drop in filter -0.1hp

Hey myeverlovinsir,
Are you smoking? So what the AEM showed the most increase for the RSX Type S! Are you saying you are expecting the same horsepower increase by using AEM's intake??? That does not mean your K20A3 will show the same horsepower increment as K20A2! First of all, your K20A3 cams, timing, intake manifold, exhaust,...blah, blah, blah are different!

There's a good amount of info about intakes in general here (http://www.hondavision.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3956). Though the community is not EP-centered, the tech-articles there are really good.

Im inspired... I hope to use ABS plastic for my own some day...modeled after whatever turns out to be the best market model.

You did a really good job... think about going into business?
