What are the best shift points?

I'd like to know the optimal way to shift the 02 Si. Under normal acceleration, the owner's manual says to shift to 2nd at 14mph, to 3rd at 25, to 4th at 40, and to 5th at 49 mph.

However, if I shift like this, my rpm will go only slightly over 3,000.

I read of other owners going to rpms much higher than this. Are these owners disregarding the advice of the owner's manual? Or is the manual too conservative?

These shift points are reccomended almost exclusively for getting the best fuel economy possible. Honda gives these figures without figuring in how to get the most power out of each gear - so follow them if you want the best gas mileage:) .
