In case anyone was interested, I was lured by the commercial for turtle wax ultra shine. I use Meguiars regularly so I was wondering about the claim on the commercial that it is "better than Meguiars."

Bottom line is that the Turtle Wax ultra shine is about the same as Meguiars. I don't know which lasts longer but as far as the look goes; no difference.

Meg's NXT wax. I've recently started using the Professional numbered stuff like oogy, but I still finish with NXT. #26 Yellow wax is great stuff and smells like bananas.

Check out some pics at my gallery at the Meguiar's site.

Do yourself a favor and try some Zymol.

Until about a week ago I used only Meguiars numbered products and Gold Class since they worked so well. I went to buy wax at Pep Boys, but the store was being remodeled and they were out of Meguiars. I threw down about $5 extra on a huge bottle of Zymol.

I am so impressed that I simply will not use the Meguiars after having used this.

Those options in the poll are "low" grade products. Here is what I do:

Here is my (jaydub's) detail process:
1) Clay Bar
2) 3M Swirl Mark Remover (for dark cars) - this will help your swirl marks or water spots IMMENSELY
3) Klasse All-In-One
4) Klasse Sealer Glaze
5) Blitz One Grand Carnuba
6) After washes I use Eagle1 Wax-as-u-Dry or Wet

Or just Zymol if I'm doing the SUV (Pilot) or vehicles other than my cars (TSX or EP3). :)

Hmm maybe either that or the buffer pad I'm using sucks. Are you using a clean microfiber towel to buff it off? It sounds like what you're using to buff off the residue is caked with wax in it.

I used a claybar kit and then Meguiar's Gold Class yesterday and it turned out amazing. Definitely took out/masked most of the swirling my paint had.

I've been using Turtlewax Ice tech wax paste but it doesn't seem to last very long at all. Can anyone recommend something that will last for more than a month or so, other than Meguiar's Gold Class? Or is this stuff going to last more than that? Thanks.

I was using Mothers FX and Reflections line. Reflections is awesome, a little detailed doing the Advanced Wax coat then Top Coat (cleaner wax then pure carnuba basically). FX is great for a quick detail.

But I'm changing brands now... Getting more into sealants and then a pure carnuba topper. Going to give the Wolfgang line a try after seeing it done a few other cars. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, topped by Wolfgang Fuzion wax (this stuff is like $137.00 a jar). Both go on smooth. Will posts pics when I get the chance to finish...

i dont really have a prefererance between the two, i dont notice much of a diference either. it is just easier to apply to 2.0 b/c he got the liquid wax not the paste.

my car gets its shine every 3 months. when i clay bar it. its always looked its best after i hit it with a mothers cali claybar, cheap turtle wax polish, and my cheap turtle wax paste...

easy to use never used one, easy to burn the clear coat? You would have to be really careless with a random orbital to burn through the clearcoat, but it isn't impossible. Rotary on the other hand is more likely to burn through the clearcoat.

powdbyrice

easy to use! my ep is nhbp and it did a nice job getting the spiderwebs out. i have the griots garage buffer. it has a speed adjustment dial, so you can go slow without having to worry about burning thru the clear coat.

some of the pros here might endorse the rotary buffer as they have more experience.
