Well, I traded in my GF's Eclipse for an Element and kept the tires as they were only a month old. I had 16" Grids (40 mm offset) with the 215/55/16's put on and had no problems. I just put my Ingalls front and rear kit on this weekend and had the alignment done. Now I'm rubbing like a MO-FO (EIbach 1.5" drop settled to ~1.75).

My Q is, what would be my best bet with that offset? I realize the "55's" were too big but they were free :). My next Q is what is the largest and widest that I may be able to run safely? 215/50's? 225/45's? 205/50's? 215/45's?

Thanks in advance everyone :)

I run 205/50-16 es100's on my grids with h&r sport. I have the rear camber at -.8 and it doesn't rub at all.

I'd vote for 205/50, 215/50, or 215/45, since the only significantly changed exterior dimension from stock tires (and therefore most compatible with wheel well clearances) would be width, and it wouldn't be that much different.
