i was once told the that the k20A type R cams wont fit in a A3. can someone prove to me that person is wrong. He has a RSX type S.. "confused"

i was if anyone tried this...
K20A type R cams in a A3?
K20A type R Intake manifold in a A3?

if so, what are gains on these two mods...

My Car (http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37625) type r manifold helps in high rpms. we have no need in it. if you have hondata then maybe. the heads are totally different. the number of lobes on the cams are different. it is possible to change over MOST of the type r or type s valvetrain, except for the lost motion assemblies for the extra rockers. basically it would cost more to do this and it still would not be as good as getting the better head in the first place. sorry.

let me clarify, I think the heads are the same raw casting, but the assemblies inside the heads are totally different, plus where the lost motion assemblies go in the a or a2 head, are ground off for some reason. I think it was myeverlovinsir that did a bunch of tech investigations on the not-so-obvious differences in the heads.;)

What do you think is the best way to gain power from internals for the A3?

My Car (http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37625) there are not many internals out. forced induction, or a swap (head or entire motor) are the only big gains out there. you can do the bolt ons. intake/header(preferably race)/exhaust/intake manifold gasket are the usual suspects. lots of members swear by hondata. thats about it. if you want big power, it is time to look into a swap or slap on some kind of boost. sorry.

the race headers (comptech,dc, and jackson racing) all give good numbers...

a i/rh/e/hondata ep should get ya to 160+ whp.....pretty good for just bolt ons

and the type s head (bout 20-30 whp)

and you have a 180+whp civic...

My Car (http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37625) basically it is the same head you already have. the difference between the k20a3 and the k24 is the increased stroke that gives it .4 liter more displacement.
