235 is awfully wide! You might want to think about 205/210 at the most.

Other than that, you should be good to go!

Make sure to post pics once you put dem wheels on! (i hope your 4x4 is dropped if your puttin' 17"'s on...)

Stick with 215 or under.

235 is just overkill, and will likely cause rubbing and clearance problems.

I got 215s on mine, and they look great! Definately would not want them any wider!

235/45/17 rubbed on my pickup truck! Thats a fairly large tire.

205 or 215 is the widest. there's no such thing as a 210 tire.

So a 215 with a 1.5 or 2 inch drop wont rub? or should i just go with a 205...sorry i dont know much about tire sizes and shit like that...But i plan on gettin either some tein springs or eihbach in a few weeks....and i need rims also..so yea...who has 215's? and no problems with a drop?

You guys are so off. 235/40/17's run great. I've had them on for about 6 months. I also ran 225's for near a year before I put the 235's on. No problems with the prokit drop.:D

Sweet. What profile tire did you have for the 225's? Anyways, if it were me I would stick the widest size tire on as possible. Keep in mind though that the pro-kit is only a 1" drop. If you plan on lowering your car any more than that I would go for 215-225 for safe measure. 205's for a 17" tire is pretty small I think. I have a 45mm offset with 16's. When I bought the wheels I was told 45mm is what the stock wheels are although that may be wrong. You should be fine with 40-45mm though.

225/45/17 is best for me.

40 profile? Isn't that kinda smallish compared to stock?
Anyway, I'm planning on putting 225/50/15 on 15x7 wheel, 41 offset (stock is, I believe, 42 offset). Overall tire/wheel diameter is going to be 9mm smaller than stock. My less-than-scientific measurement method (finger widths) says there may still be a few millimeters worth of clearance on the inside at full turn, so no rubbing, as long as nothing gets stuck on the tires. I was looking for 215/55/15 @ tirerack, and they have only one tire that matches that size (compared to about 30-ish 225/50/15). Any opinions? If I go with smaller offset will it stick out too much?

I understand some of you in EPHatch are using 225 width tires. Could you tell me what tire profile you are using, and what rim size and width? Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated.

Other considerations:
- I don't lower my car, and don't plan to anytime soon due to hostile dips and driveways in my area
- I'm currently looking at a set of Yokohama AVS tires (225/50/15), but they have a built in rim protector. Anybody has experience with these kind of tires? How much width it adds to the overall, is it only on the outside or both inside and outside, etc.
- 16" lightweight wheels are VERY expensive compared to the 15" ones:(

btw: this site helps:
