Not to be a noob but could someone technically explain what engine sleeving is?

"Sleeving" your cylinders replaces the bore with ductile iron - which strengthens the walls, and reduces warpage under high loads.

I don't know how much you've looked into it, but this site from Darton gives a pretty good explanation of what it is, and what they do: http://www.dartonsleeves.com

so wouldn't sleeving reduce the bore size of your cylinders?
See I am old school, we always bored out our V8 and the concept of sleeving was never really talked about.
It seems to be bigger thing in the import market, but I could be wrong.

Replaces, doesn't add. And you can specify any bore you would like.
Old school blocks were normally cast iron, not aluminum.

All chevy alluminum blocks use sleeves as well. Basically you machine out the cylinder to work with the sleeve and then you bore the sleeve to the proper bore for your application.
