Just got these in the mail today! Install was not that hard, the only hard part was the fact that you have to tap in to the parking lights for the halos. Looks great. They even have the HID "effect" where the light changes colors at different angles. However the supplied bulbs are a bit yellow, but i'm not exactly sure what kind of bulbs they are. Also the beam pattern is not so great. It lights up the road, but not nearly as good as stock with silverstars. oh well maybe when i get new bulbs it will solve this. I love this mod! pics are coming up....

Thanks! I was just about to upload them again! Anyway does anyone know what kinda bulbs that are in these lights? And where i can find some aftermarket ones?

NAPA carries some higher out put bulbs. I did not know when I ordered them they are APC but they are a lot better then stock. I think they cost me $30 for the set.

I think I like it. I just do not know about the halo's though. Just wonder does the second inside light up inside or is that only a halo light?

NVM i jsut went out and looked, they are H3 and H1 bulbs. I might pick up some silverstars tomorrow, I LOVED them on the stock headlights.

The second light is the High beam whereas the projector is just a low beam.

Yea I would like to see it with the silverstars in. That way you can compair it to the OEM setup like you had with the silverstars. Yea that do look a little yellow.

If these work out well we need to try and contact the place that makes these and see if we can setup a group buy.

Has anyone else bought these?

Just put in the silverstars. H3 and H1 bulbs. You can tell a difference but not really since its not dark yet.
Heres a daytime pic with the stock bulbs.

sai_iii
06-13-2004, 08:39 AM
You can't really tell a difference from the pics, but the sliverstars ARE brighter and whiter. The pics don't do the bulbs justice. The bulbs do help out the beam pattern, but still not nearly as good as stock with silverstars. Honestly if you care more about beam pattern, i'd stick with stock headlights with silverstars. Oh well i still love the way they look, and i guess this is my "style over function" mod aka rice.:D Oh and jbone98gt, I got the blue lense.

All of these pics are with silverstars:

thanks for the pics.

but when you put on the high beam, shouldn't the low beams stay on as well?

sai_iii
06-13-2004, 08:57 AM
no it probably just seems like that with the stock headlights, because low and high beams are produced by the same bulb. However, I have found that if you hold the high beam switch(towards you)in the middle both low and high beams stay on.

06-13-2004, 09:06 AM
When running dual bulbs both low and high should stay on if you have High beams on, fogs should turn off when High is activated

Yea you are right there. All two bulb setups that I have ever seen work that way and not like the pics above. What would help out with the beam pattern a lot with with them being in high mode.

Hmm.... Well i'm not sure but it may be because how its wired. Both bulbs are wired into one plug, and not seperately like other setups(i think). But then again i'm not sure. But the High beam is VERY high, so i'm pretty sure that it would help the beam pattern, but it would blind EVERYONE.

Very nice :)

What is the adjustment like on the keft to right, I wouldnt mind them on mine but being RHD , i dont want to be blinding everyone !!

Cheers

Showstoppers and ebay sells them for around 250ish a set i think

There is no adjustment for left to right.Only up and down.I love my lights. I bought some the first day they showed up on ebay. They are awsome.Cant wait until i get better bulbs. Oh and also the lights only have one wire that controls the headlights and one wire for the halos. The main wire plugs into the stock h4 headlight harness. So there is no way to make both lights(high and low)to burn at the same time ,unless you take apart the lights and rewire it.The other wire can be tapped into the running lights or turn signal wires if you prefer. But anyway great lights.Im sure more designs will be out latter now that thease have come out.;)

sai_iii
06-14-2004, 09:13 AM
Actually you can have both beams on at the same time. If you pull the high beam lever towards you and hold it somewhere in the middle, both beams will stay on. However you have to hold it at that spot.

06-14-2004, 10:55 AM
If you want both hi and lo beams on, AND want to be able to put high watt bulbs in just order yourself a new wiring harness, and ask them to wire the relays so that both lo and hi stays on in hi beam position. I bought mine from suvlights and it made a world of difference (I run 90/100w H4 philips ralley bulbs (so bright they are even illegal in Europe! But still not HID :( )).

The harness takes 2 minutes, its plug and play (all plugs are made to fit yuour existing system). The price keeps going up, I thinkg its like $50 now, but the guy makes everything by hand, and is always there to answer your questions over the phone. Do a google, he has a lot of fans.

I bet you have been told this before but keep those trashy remarks to yourself;) If it bothers you so much put your money towards real CTR headlamps, and give them to him! If not then STFU. Any way I think they look pretty damn nice and for 250.00 i think thas a killer deal.

Can someone with these lights tell me the size of the projector lens (for those of you without esp yes, I want to retrofit hid projectors and this seems easier then putting bi-xenon's into our existing headlamps, as I want both hi and low beams)

Should be about 2" that's standard on the hid projectors...

Actually its a bit bigger. I couldn't get an exact measurement, but its about 2.5 inches.

Just wondering I know HID's are not legal. But if you had this setup would it make it harder for the police to tell if they are OEM legal ones?

I think it's just illegal to sell HID in the US not having it on your car. Since you can't buy it, you shouldnt't have aftermarket HID on your car.

I do plan on getting HIDs, however i'm not very aware of all of the kits that are available. I was looking at the H3 4300k XenonDepot HID Conversion Kit. Does anyone know if this a good kit? Are there better ones out there? Oh and i do wanna stay at about 4300K because i heard that 6000k is not as bright, and 8000k is just blinding. Am i right or should i look at higher temp kits? Also hows the installation? Is it a bitch?

You can get them, but they are labeled for off road use only. You still do have to look a little hard for them. They are a nice add-on but I do not want to blind other drivers. That is why I am wondering this lens would help make it like OEM and not blind other drivers on the road. The number 1 reason why they were made illegal.

try to get your hands on some oem hid from other model and make. alot less glare than your plug and play HIDs.

What models can we take these off of? I guess are the plugs and bulbs the only thing we have to take? I have 3 junk yards in the area I can try for this but I have no idea how much they would take me for.

off a s2k, mercedes, bmw, whichever. you have to modify something to make it fit. a few of my friends did so on there cars. Not the EP, but other hondas, toyota, mazda, etc.

I would not try to put HID without HID projectors. You can check out the HID forums for more info on this, but essentially, the problems can range from extreme glare, to projector meltdown. Non-hid projectors are much different than hid projectors, both the lens itslef and the shield...

us Si- silver
JDM CTR- grey
JDM HID- black

Really? I think a guy on clubrsx bought some aftermarket halos and he installed HIDs on those headlights. Will i really risk melting my projector even if i just get a 4300K kit? Oh and also can you give me the link to the hid forums?

SF-SI-02
06-20-2004, 07:22 AM
Remember folks, 4200K is color, not actual bulb temp, all the different color HIDs create the same amount of heat. HID forum link ishere (http://hidforum.com/) . Someone asked if it was ok to put HJID in the stock setup: yes and no. Without casper shields you will cause glare, with casper shields you will cause less glare. If someone thinks their setup is glare free, please post a pic, I have yet to see one that is not glare free. I have also seen RSX's with hid in their stock headlight, and believe me, its glare city (I saw the rsx get pulled over for glare that same night!). HIDforum talks about a lot of these things and is stocked with perfectionists, if you are interested check it out.
