Hey guys. I'm not quite sure what the difference is in the old vtec and the new ivtec. It'll be kool if someone could fill me in. And is there a ivtec controller out there?

if i am not mistaken old vtec used another intake(valve) to gain added performance, now on new cars it uses a cam to make the extra power, someone please correct me if i am wrong.....hope this helps 04si27893

iVTEC adds VTC on top of VTEC. The new Si engine only has VTEC on intake, while RSX-s has it on both intake and exhaust. Both have VTC. I don't know about an aftermarket VTC, as it would probably require alot of modifications.

Reading that thread made me sad about our engine. The pics with the A3's missing cam lobe was bad. Makes me want a swap or turbo really bad.
