After a framing nail in right rear tire today (which I plugged today), installed the Ebay catch can. Less than $80 shipped.

Even comes with a magnetic drain plug hehehe.

Decided to put it on the firewall, using the brake line bolt next to the master cylinder.

Had to go buy some vacuum hose, cuz the one supplied is only long enough for one run. I checked 2 local auto parts stores and none had red silicon vacuum hoses :crym: so I opted for regular black ones 10feet and cut in half.
They didnt have the size I needed, so I got the smaller size down. This way I don't have to use clamps hehehehe, they were so tight to fit on.

I didn't want clear tubes (brown and black showing thru would make it dirty looking hehehe). Only clear tube is on the can itself to veiw collection levels.
Boosted cars will greatly benifit from this mod as stated before by many others.

hey bioevolve, wanna run by me what's the advantage of a Catch Can? Well, besides the bling. Not really an engine person.

It's so hard to follow the tubing since the hoses are black. Does it have to be specifically "silicone vaccuum hosing"? I have some of that clear tubing w/ white cross hatches...is that what silicone vaccuum hosiing is? Let us know if you find any oil deposits in the can. I've been looking to do this for a while.

EDIT: nvm, didn't know those two blk tubes running along together were BOTH part of the catch can. Too bad there's no space on the passenger side of the engine bay. BTW: Did you ever look to see the contruction inside the can? I'm curious how they filter the oil and what not.

My oil catch tank has sat unused for quite a while because I couldn't figure out a good place to install it. Problem is that there's no room on the passenger side, and I was wondering if installing it as far away as you did kind of defeats the purpose. If there's blow-by oil that would get caught in the tank, wouldn't it just get caught up in the long ammount of tubing required to reach the tank in the first place? I don't know that that happens for a fact, I was just wondering.

To catch all the oil and venting of stuff from motor and prevent it from getting recirculated back into the motor.

Not excatly sure about the cross hatched tubing, but vacuum hose should be non-collapseable.

I'm not sure, but most should get in the can. Some would just linger in the hose, but never reach back into the intake manifold lol. So it is doing its job. :D I wouldn't worry about it.

Well the hose that came w/ it (w/ the cross hatches) should be non collapseable right? When I bought some hosing to bleed my brakes, I forgot to take note how big the bleeder valves are so I bought a 1/4" ID and a 3/8" ID. The 3/8" ID wasn't used, but it's pretty thick so I guess it should be. I don't remember it being specifically a "vaccum hose" so I'm just wondering.

Setup looks good (I would prefer the clear hosing just to know it works), but keep us updated on how much oil you catch...might be surprising to see the results.

Right.
