View Full Version : S7 Gauges not lighting properly?

Can anyone who has the S7 let me know how bright yours are? I have been noticing that unless it's full dark I cannot tell the gauges are lit. Even at full dark, it's VERY VERY dim. WTF is up? About to get rid of them cause I can't see anything...and Yes, the dimmer switch is all the way up, I can see it dim and brighten, just not much.

Yeah, I have. they are set as high as it goes. I am wondering, if for some reason where I am tapping in is not a 12v connection.... or not getting enough...

Thanks!

Camera resting on steering wheel, no flash, parking lights on only, gauges at max brightness

The pic does look dark, but in person it is actually brighter..hope it gives ya an idea anyways

I can seem them lit at night any darkness

Did you make sure the brightness dial on the dash AND the digital brightness buttons on the overlays were both all the way up??

You also know you tapped the correct 12v line if the stock brightness dial controls the dimming of the overlay - rendering it pointless to ever use the digital one once you make sure it's up all the way.

If your still boned lemme know and i'll take my shit out and photo the exact wire I tapped. - Make sure you have a good ground too. Lights look dimmer when using a weak ground. I used the ground on the stock guage harness.

If all else fails bring splicing tools and electrical tape to the picnic on the 14th and I'll fix them on the spot for you. ;)

Man, that has to be the problem. My ground. I bet cause I have SO many damn things in that dash now, it's not pulling enough. I am going to work on my electrical system tomorrow. Jesus, E, your's is as bright as I expected! I love that.

BTW: I still need a digi cam, but my expectations are lower now :) PM if you have ANYTHING laying around.

why not get a direct ground straight from the battery? Dunno if that will help.

sounds like a plan. a 16 guage wire thru the firewall to a grounding block under the dash would do wonders. then tap all your hardcore audio and lighting grounds to that distrabution block.

Yeah, that's pretty much along the lines of what I was thinking of doing :)

Bingo. Soon as I ran a new wire, everything was perfect :) Bright as all hell now :) Thanks all.

Now I have to rewire the entire car, knowing that I could get better workings from a better grounding system :)
