I'm considering selling my Si. I'd like opinions to what my asking price should be. I'm not in a huge hurry to sell, but would like it to move. I thought $18,000., what do you think?

2002 Civic Si. 11k miles
Lowered by a Honda dealership using H&R springs.
Adjustable rear upper control arms.
2-1/4" custom mid pipe.
K&N air filter.
17" OZ Racing-Super leggera wheels.
Yokohama Parada spec-2 tires

The car is like new, not a ding anywhere. Always garaged.

In all honesty....I seriously doubt it. An '02 can be had for 16k. The mods youl listed while good, are just that mods. Rarely are mods paid for in a resale.

You might get 16.5 or 17k at best.

Sorry, JMO.

Why do you want to sell it so soon?

I almost traded in for an SUV (Don't ask...). And the most I was offered for my SI was 16K. I knew that for a trade in that's not bad since I see them for sale for $15,900, but I decided to hang on to it for now. I think I'll miss it too much.

I'm glad to hear you decided to put down the SUV crack pipe.

Hmmm...

Trade on a SUV?

Do I detect a certain marital situation here?;)

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

SUV'S ARE THE NEW "CHICK CAR"!

Yeah, I'm married, but I still can't act mature and responsible so I guess I'll keep the SI and do what I want to do, Mod the shit out of it.

I refuse to plan ahead and save money - for one simple reason: I can. With no mortgage or kids or any financial burdon besides rent and a car payment, I have been given every indication that I need to enjoy this while I can. IMO, Financial freedom seems less free when you place limitations on your cash flow. My car is like a big hole in the ground that I just dump money into. The more I dump, the more fun the car is.

Well...I should say that I did plan ahead when I bought the car - $6,000 down payment :o

Your looking at 15k tops for a used Si.
Market value is only 14.5k

Probably no more than 15k at this point in the game

Of course your dealer isn't going to offer much...they know how hard they are to sell and what the going price is. Better to try and trade it at a dealer that doesn't sell Honda.

We just bought a brand new 02 for 14,900.

The guy later told me that the Honda is giving an additional 2 k back right now because teh 03's were coming in and they had a ton of 02's still on the lot.

You may be able to find people who have no clue on what the market is and get them before they find a local newspaper, but its a tough call. You are better off driving it for awhile.
