I'm planning to change my tranny fluid tomorrow, and I was wondering how many quarts to put in. I know in B series motors, you use 2 1/2 - 3 quarts... I was wondering if there is any differences. (NO, I don't have my owners manual -_- ). And I'm gona be using Honda tranny fluid.

Just fill it up untill it runs out the overflow. That is what you do on just about all transmissions. I don't know why this one would be any different.

Old thread but info is relevant.
The new formula Honda MTF is as good or better than Synchromesh and it will be a little less than 2 quarts to change the fluid. (some will flow back out) I know because I have done this about 4 times now.

1.6 quarts for refill, 1.8 quarts for a rebuild.

Good info! I was just looking for some info on the same topic...what kind of fluid, and how much.
Apparently, all of the auto parts stores in town are out of synchromesh?!!?
Guess I'll just pick up some of the Honda MTF and go with that.

GM Synchromesh Friction Modified is discontinued and will probably show up if you are searching around.

If you are dead set on that, then you can always buy AC Delco Synchromesh Friction Modified (ACDelco #10-4014).

Changed out my tranny fluid today, went with the Honda MTF and it's niiiice. Was surprised at how much smoother the shifting is.

Probably filling through the VSS sensor hole. 3 qts is definitely too much if you're just changing the fluid - fill through the hole on the side like you're supposed to and you can only put in 1.7 qts or so.
