Two thumbs up on the c-pillar brace . I currently use the Alex c-pillar , with the Alex rear strut , Neuspeed mid-mount brace and Spoon lower tie bar . Highly recommended .

how much did you get your c-pillar for?

I heard somewhere that upper pillar braces help with ride quality on cars with stiff suspension by lower upper chassis flex. Is this way off? If it's the case, why does lower upper chassis flex help ride quality?

Thats a nice clean cut out man. And does it get in the way when u look out the rear? when the suns shining from the back?

For those wondering where exaclty it connects, it connects to the C pillar (duh) using the stock rear seat belt bolt.

Yes it made a nice difference (I also have progress compitition coilovers, progress front and rear sway, progress lower tie)

It does not really get in the way, it sits just higher then the rear window wiper, I have no problems at all with visibility

Most C-pillar bars I've seen had hinged brackets, which makes them useless for actually stiffening the chassis. I don't know if a non-hinged bar would do anything.

Does anyone make a solid one piece c-pillar? I'd be interested...

I've never really understood this arguement. You have two ends of metal that are bolted to opposite walls. Even if they are hinged or whatnot, you still have them bolted and the bar tightened so that it won't bend with much pressure and weight put on it. Also, you can tighten up the hinge so that it is extremely tight. I fail to see where the bar becomes useless.

I'm not trying to be an jerk, but I'm just confused. If someone here could better explain why the bars would be nothing more than eye-candy, I'm all for it. I guess I have a handy clothes hanger no matter what though. :mwink:

Its as easy as the difference between changing the "feel" of a car and actually changing its handling balance...

But I'll just post a quote from another discussion i was involved in recently about chassis braces (http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=559418&highlight=Chassis+brace)

Chassis braces reduce chassis flex... flex in the chassis acts as a very large un-dampered spring. Making fine tuning of the suspension nearly impossible.

And thats the key element here... the "Fine tuning" of the suspension. Meaning you can get 90-95% out of the car with out bracing the chassis. But to get that last 5-10% you need to remove that last variable. And note that this is with driving the car at competition levels, ya know driving 10/10ths. Something thats nearly impossible on the street. So there is also the chance that a driver simply isn't skilled enough yet to get to that 90-95%.

So... as far as tuning, they have there place. will they make the car handle vastly different then before? No.

One opinion about their popularity. Tuning a cars handling for the street in most cases ends up being more about tuning the "feel" of the car rather then getting 10/10ths out of it. And in my opinion thats why all of these chases braces are so popular with the street tuners. Simply because many of them instantly alter the "feel" of the car. making it feel more solid. Which is fine and good, as it also tends to give those drivers more confidence to push the car. but don't fool your self in to thinking that any chassis brace is that Magic go fast part to fix all your handling problems.

just want to see how it is installed because i am getting one.
if you could get a shot of the mounting point, it would be even better!
thanks for your help!
