Will do the best to get some tomorrow for ya! I'll be at Miller Park getting some much needed practice in before Event #1 on Sunday. Need a chance to knock some rust off, and learn new stuff. Hopefully this year i'll finish the season off within the Top 2 for STX!

I'll most likely be moving back to wisco in July. I'm hoping that i'll get to meet more of the Wisconsin crew.

The only other person I have met is John in Oconomowoc, but he's also my little bro's friend.

Placed 2nd in STX once again! Damn WRX! LOL! Seriously though i had a blast, got my best run in at the last minute! I had a really close call with a cone. I thought that i had nailed it, but it turns out that i just barely bumped it. Glad i just kept on trucking to turn out with a time of 64.5!

Will be recieving my trophy for event #1 at the next event!

I didn't get any vids of the event, and sorry for all of whom i promised i would. Turns out my batteries, even though they said they were fully charged, lied..... I think i may have one of my instructor on Saturday driving! The car handles phenominal!

Thanks guys! I have been trying to tune the car so it can be competitive in STX for auto-x. Exterior needs a lot of work! It needs a new coat of paint, another set of lighter wheels, and maybe a lip kit. We'll see, this year was just to get the car competitive. Next year i'll focus on getting it to look better!

04-27-2008, 07:07 PM
I also have another issue at hand.... Turns out that the A comp race pads i use dust a lot. The dust is actually eating away at my paint.... Tomorrow i'm going to clay bar the car, and hope that i can get any residue that's in my paint out. Once i do that i will wax the sh*t out of my car!

Hope i can get it all off!

JUST GAINED A SPONSORSHIP!!!!

I am proud to announce that as of right now, i am sponsored by Datatoys! It's a small local company that makes camera systems for race cars! As of right now i am getting a free camera mount to replace the Corsport one i have purchased not that long ago. And will eventually be getting a multi-cam recording system for the car!

It's not a big time deal, but it's going to open some doors!

Well just sent the money for the Takata harness and pads from Windchaser. So now i'll have a pair of Takatas for racing! Still waiting on my used 2004 OEM hood to show up, then the c/f hood will be for sale to whom ever would like to buy it!

05-13-2008, 02:23 PM
why you ditchin the cf hood man?

20CiviC02Si
05-13-2008, 02:24 PM
Yeah i am not going to sit there swapping the hood on and off everytime i have to race. I cannot race in my class with the c/f and don't want to bump up a class. So i am going to sell it now that i have found a new OEM hood to replace the beat up one i have.

The c/f is only a month old and was on the car for 1.5 weeks. Now it's chilling in some bubble wrap in it's box.

Come on you know you aren't supposed to hit cones in auto-x! LOL! J/K! Yeah i was pushing the car hard at the last couple events. And the saying goes, "If you're not hitting cones, you're not going fast enough!". So let's just say my dues were paid in these days!

I haven't exactly been spending time cleaning marks off the bumpers either!

Well i have made a tough decision. I am no longer competing in STX and just going up to SM. I'm tired of being so serious about beating the WRX. It's starting to take the fun out of auto-x. So i am going to be making some serious modifications in the future. Starting with suspension work and lightening the chassis then moving onto power mods! Here are my thoughts:

Suspension Thoughts:
-DC5R Lower Control Arms
-DC5R Front Sway
-J's Racing RCA
-Mugen Hard Rubber Bushings
-Skunk2 Rear Lower Control Arms
-Energy Suspension Rear Bushings
-17x8 +42 Work Emotion CR Kai Wheels
-225/45/17 Kumho or Hoosier Tires

Power Thoughts:
-J's Racing 2-1 Lower Manifold
-Skunk2 Stage 2 Cams
-Jackson Racing Race Supercharger *Last*

Exterior:
Just repaint the bumpers!

I just can't wait to start acquiring all the parts! Starting with the DC5R LCA's/Bushings/Sway Bar/Axles/J's Racing RCA. Once i have that i can knock out the front suspension. Then work on the rear with Skunk2 Rear LCA's and Tie Bar.

20CiviC02Si
06-16-2008, 12:38 PM
Well after the rear seat removal, i noticed that the car is now pretty front end heavy go figure. Now i'll have to see what i can do to strip weight up front, or figure a way to shift the weight to the rear utilizing my coilovers. I am not sure if raising the front coilovers up will be all that effective.

Hmmm just curious. I know you stripped out the rear now but are the rear seats at all usable with the corsport harness bar in place? Can somebody crawl back there if I really needed to use the back seats every now and then?

I would not suggest it.... Your insurance would not cover medical bill for the passenger who would be injured by the bar in the event of an accident. You would have to pay out of pocket. I don't know how deep your pockets are but i know mine are deep enough to cover that kind of a bill. We're talking tens-of-thousands for facial reconstruction!

If you really want the bar in your car, be sure to have a 19mm socket in the car and just remove the 2 bolts that hold it in place. You can rest it on the floor after that.

Well i didn't get around to removing the a/c this week. I have been lazy these last two days.... Ah well i'll get to it eventually. Other than that i have a couple other small projects for the car. Starting with removing the sound deadening material in the rear of the car. Once that is complete i'll touch it up with a coat of paint.

I want to tinker around with the car to make it a bit cleaner. It does need some paint on the front and rear bumpers, because they are in bad condition.

Making this car as clean as possible without spending much cash is the goal for the rest of this year. Next year i'll open the flood gates on the wallet for better upgrades!

07-08-2008, 10:18 AM
Well refinanced the car for a longer term to cut the payment by $200/month. It's not to just reduce payment. The goal is that i'll make minimums until i have a decent cushion in case i need to fall back on something. Then once i have that i'll start dropping mad cash on the payments. Should still have it paid off late this year early next.

Once the car is paid for.... You all are going to be amazed at how fast money will dissapear! Call me David Copperfield of $100 bills! LOL! J/K

But i do have some major plans for next year. Exterior/Suspension/ and Power!

I have decided to make a couple minor modifications for next weeks 2 day track event at Gingerman Raceway. I ordered some new blank rotors today, and plan on picking up a set of Hawk Blue pads for the Wilwood Dynalite kit. I am also considering installing a brake duct kit to direct some cool air on the front brakes to assist in cooling. Dustshields will be removed in the process as well.

Other than that i will be bleeding the brake fluid and adding some fresh Motul.

Yeah it really doesn't.

Well i just received my new Wilwood blank rotors from Summit Racing. Tomorrow i will be pull the old rotors off and mounting the new ones to the hats. Once they are bolted then i'll have to bust out the safety wire. I have also decided to use the Hawk HP+ Pads for West Michigan Honda Meet at Gingerman. I just hope they last on the track. It's a two day event, so i'm a little concerned that i won't have pads to come back home on. I'll bring spares! LOL!

Only other thing on the agenda for this week is the purchase of a new SA2005 helmet. I am cheaping out on this one, going with a Pyrotect open face for $150. Next year i'll make purchase of a better closed face that is HANS compatible. I want to purchase a HANS device next year, a MUST when you are going all out on the track.

Also i'll be making purchase of some mint OEM headlights. Mine are a little rough and the driver side has a deep gouge courtesy of my big brother and a ford pickup!

Well guys here is the update! I am currently in the process of getting the EP3 chassis classified as an ITA (Improved Touring A) car. I have to make a couple emails to the SCCA Club Racing Board to see where they would like to have my car placed. Two classes that they could put them in is ITS or ITA. I am hoping it'll get placed in ITA for better competitiveness.

I figured it would be better to take my EP3 and turn it into a club racing car instead of trying to buy a fully built car. That way all i have to do is scope out a tow vehicle and trailer!

Not sure if anyone else has tried to turn the EP3 into a full race car here on the site...? However i know i'll be the first to try to make it a competitive Improved Touring car!

Update:

Well today is the day i officially pick up and register my 1996 GMC Suburban tow/winter vehicle. And already it'll be getting put to the test. Tomorrow i make an 800 mile round trip adventure to southern Illinois to pick up my spare K20a3 motor, along with a K24a4 a buddy picked up as well.

As many of you know, i put my automobiles through rigorous testing!

The K20a3 will more than likely be torn apart over the winter. My buddy sold it to me for $100 picked up because i helped him sell the K24. I am trying to figure out what my goals are with this motor..... I spent the whole night wondering what type of build i want to go with. And i have come down to these three build choices:

1.) K20a Factory Overbore Pistons, K20a2 Oil Pump, K20a2 Crankshaft, K20a2 Rods, K20z1 Head Swap.

2.) Factory Overbore K20a3 Pistons and a Kraftwerks Supercharger.

3.) Factory Overbore K20a2 Pistons Rods and Oil Pump, K24a1 Head Swap (Same VTEC engagement as the a3 but flows 10x better.), Brian Crower Stage 2 or 3 Cams and Valvesprings.

Like i said i am unsure as to which route i will go. However my horsepower goal is 200-250WHP. With the Kraftwerks i will have the possibility to run up to 300WHP.

Update:

I have started to stock pile up engine parts for the motor build on my spare a3. Just sent payment on a K24a1 head. Next on the list is a K20a2/z1 crankshaft. Other than that i am still not sure as to what i want to run for pistons and rods. I was thinking K20z1 pistons for their 11.1:1 compression ratio.

Now i need to find out what compression these will put my motor at with the K24a1 head on. I know it'll be lower than 11.1:1 due to the larger combustion chamber of the K24a1 head.
