I was totally disgusted with the constant shocks, wear and fit of the stock EP3 seats. SO I found a set of 05' leather seats from a typeS. I transferred the inner seatbelt assemblys from the EP3 seats onto the typeS seats(required)

The rear inner seat mount on the typeS seats will need a slight modification to fit properly. You will need to go to Home Depot and purchase some 1" aluminum tubing and cut off a short piece to use as a spacer. The actual hole in the seat mount needs to be slightly moved as seen in this pic.

And here is how they look in the car. The plastic in the headrest match's the rest of the silver trim on the door handles, dash etc.

The typeS seats are far more supportive and have Lumbar support. I also hate the red insert in the head rest, it doesnt match anything else in the interior.

The RSX seats have a silver plastic insert? I've never even noticed that before. Do you have a better picture of that (kinda hard to see in the above photo)?

dam that makes me want some type s seats.

This is the only other pic I have showing the silver insert, but you can see how it is wider and will not kill the driver if a aftermarket harness is used.

I paid 200$ for them and I made the road trip to pick them up.

I had the same gap on teh driver side seat as well, but I didnt use a spacer I just tight it as far as it willing to go. so far it work out fine. The only mistake I made is actually drilling a hole into my floor on the passenger side :(

I was lucky enough to get my EP with the seats installed already =]. They're tore up pretty bad though and need a lot of touching up now.

the type s seats in my EP didn't require the EP plugs... no srs... all i did was did the diy srs reset and it went away..

rsx seats are dope.. but still wished they sit a little lower..

Pros:
- Quite a bit comfier.
- They also sit a bit lower and have adjustment for it.
- Excellent lumbar support (adjustable).

A couple cons:
- If you autocross don't even bother. The leather is slick as balls.
- Wipe them down with a leather moisturizer weekly. Otherwise, they dry and crack quickly.
- Hot as hell in the summer and freezing in the winter.
- Careful as to what you have in your pockets. Any small hole will go downhill quickly.

I had them for a couple years and loved them.

The cold in the winter can be eliminated with the seat heaters. (easily added from the typeS as well)

The slick surface of leather is a huge bonus for road trips. If you slide a tad too much, a silicon rubber mesh will keep ya from sliding. Having a rubber type transfer on the back of your t-shirt helps tremendously.

lol....Always one step ahead Doug. You need to add some sort of refrigeration for the summer months.

I can't see adding rubber mesh when I impulsively decide to take a sweeping turn at 65.:mtongue:

Type S seats are easy to find too...there are alot of rsx'ers that want to trade straight up for our seats.lol. Post it on crsx and you just might find someone.

Hey Doug, would you happen to have any pictures, or more detailed instructions on the swap. A clubRSX user wants to trade for my seats, but Im going to have to do the trade in a parking lot half-way between our places :mconfused:

I want to make this as easy as possible for the meet up.

talonXracer
05-03-2008, 07:45 PM
I am not sure how that will work out. I got my seats complete with sliders and rails, without any trade involved.

thechromecoyote
05-03-2008, 08:03 PM
Well I need:

Type S Seats
Type S seat Sliders/ Rails
EP3 Inner seatbelt assembly
1" aluminum tubing as spacer
dremel to extend the inner rear mounting hole

To swap, I presume he'd take my sliders and rails, and his inner seatbelt assembly correct?

EDIT: Checked out clubrsx.. its a direct swap with the EP3 sliders/ rails, except 1 bolt hole is hard to line up for them.

I guess thats easy, but the part that Im confused on is the Inner Seatbelt assembly swap... how do you do that?

Thanks!

Whats the bolt size and thread pitch of the seat bolts?

I need a slightly longer one for the inner rear and I figgure I can just grab a longer bolt at home depot.

I found this very cool arm rest. It bolts to the typeS leather drivers seat where the lumbar control knob is, and comes in matching black leather.

any more info with the EP3 inner seat belt assembly on the seats? I might be picking up a set in a couple of week. I don't want that guy with the seat belt beeping at me. I always tell it to shut up but he doesn't listen.

I just swap'd the EP3 inner seat belt assemblys onto the typeS seats.

I'm guessing its less complicated than I'm thinking? Like take of plastic piece take 2-3 bolts off take plastic piece off rsx seats take off that assembly and bolt on ours?

The canucks got heated seats in the RSX and it was a dealer installed option in some areas of the US. There are some great its out there to retrofit.
