4angrybadgers
04-20-2008, 01:26 AM
JRSC tuned on a 3.8" pulley here, so I kinda need 93 octane if I want to keep my engine in one piece. I've just become very very anal about maximizing my gas mileage around town, and so far it's worked (27+ mpg on my daily commute).

b.r.i.a.n.
04-20-2008, 01:35 AM
i'm pumping 93 :mfrown:. it's about 3.80 in my area. i'm starting to wonder whether it'd be worth getting the car tuned to run on e85. it's not as efficient but e85 prices aren't rising as quick as gas prices. last time i checked, e85 was about 2.99 but there's only one station in my area that carries it.

2004ep3hatch
04-20-2008, 01:40 AM
3.80- 3.90 a gallon for me. its getting higher. at least im not running desiel. It's 4.50 a gallon here

dbnow88
04-20-2008, 04:56 AM
yeah I still fill up with 93. it's around 3.65 here. fill ups are getting dangerously close to $40 instead of the 29-32 they used to be

I put V-Power fuel in my CTR which is 99RON. It costs over £50 to fill it up from empty (or $100!).

Us UK members would kill to get fuel as cheap as you across the pond.

56chevydan
04-20-2008, 09:08 AM
If you're running a stock engine in your ep3 your owner's manual will tell you what fuel is required to run in it.
Burning any higher octane fuel than what is called for is a waste of money.

04-20-2008, 09:38 AM
Here on Maui its now at 4.19 a gallon for regular...i still give my baby premium though...$50 to fill. :mcry: Expected to see 5 bucks for regular by end of summer they say. :faint2:

zzfinaldropzz
04-20-2008, 09:55 AM
costed me $43 to fill up today. I use premium only which was $3.97 @ shell.. V-Power!!!!! Hence the V's. You'll get a stronger V-Tec when your pumping V-Power.

I don't look at the pump anymore. I turn my back b/c I wanna cry when it doesn't reach 1 gal. until $3.62 (93). But that's only when I fill up at BP, their regular and plus is overpriced, but their premium is always cheaper then anywhere else. If I fill up anywhere else, it's 87.

3.80- 3.90 a gallon for me. its getting higher. at least im not running desiel. It's 4.50 a gallon here

I had to make a 10 hour round trip to pick up a supra for a buddy, and the f-350 burned $188 worth of diesel by the time I got home. :mfrown: the best price was 3.99, the worst was 4.39.

because crude oil prices are going up which makes gas prices go up.

and because OPEC cuts production with every reduction in demand, creating an artificial dip in supply, so they have a reason to increase the price. its times like this that I want to hang the tree huggers that have prevented us from drilling for our own oil. :mmad:

It wouldnt have anything to do with the oil companys shutting down refineries..............Another artifical manipulation of the supply of fuel.

v1c10us
04-27-2008, 03:19 PM
because crude oil prices are going up which makes gas prices go up.

Cept they manipulate it..
They harvest a barrel of oil that costs 101 dollars.
Meanwhile the gasoline we are using is from barrels 2 months ago, yet they up the price right then and there.
It takes 2 months for a barrel of crude to become gasoline at your pump.
so you're paying for 2 months of cheaper oil at the current price.
its fucked, they just want our money.

oldschoolimport
04-27-2008, 03:19 PM
It wouldnt have anything to do with the oil companys shutting down refineries..............Another artifical manipulation of the supply of fuel.

thats part of the equation also. I was told by a local that his nephew is working construction for 1, but there are 3 new refineries currently being built. the ones closed are still from storm damage, or are "under-going repairs", but yes, that is a bottle neck in the supply cycle.

Shady business going on I tell you.

Bad as it is, I like watching some guy fill up a V8 SUV and see how much he has to pay.

k20a2 does not require premium fuel. lol, u guys whine too much, over 5 a gallon here.

New to high compresion motors? Acura clearly states in their owners manual for the TypeS that they recommend high octane fuel in their K20A2 engine part due to the 11:1 compression ratio. Do I need to explain why?
straight from the owner's manual

Type- S
Your vehicle is designed to operate on premium unleaded gasoline with a pump octane of 91 or higher. Use of lower octane gasoline can cause occasional metallic knocking noises in the engine and will result in decreased engine performance.....
Guess what I have under my hood. Not a K20A3! Yeah 93 is a lil overkill , but where I live its 87, 89 or 92 or 93 depending on station.

Id be crapping a brick right now if both my cars didn't get almost 30mpg. :x Thank god we aren't running diesel either. I drove by a sign last weekend that said something crazy like $4.40 a gallon.

Here in Dallas, it's pretty much 87,89, or 93.

I wish there were a station that had 91 for less. Stupid hondata.
