If you have an aftermarket clutch especially one with a much greater clamping force then this is a great idea to prevent any problems from the pressure plate. No oil pressure is built up and the pressure plate can cause some problems. I would link the thread that explained why this is needed in more detail but the motha fucka got deleted:crazy:Below is a pic of the two wires you cut and wire together. It is right at the top of the clutch pedal...you can't miss them. There is a green and a black wire going to this plug on the right. Cut them and wire them together...I just used electrical tape cuz I'm ghetto but you can get fancy on it if you want.

Here ya go.

The main concern regarding high clamp load pressure plates and having to depress the clutch, is that there is no oil pressure when cranking and the thrust bearing takes all that pressure UNTILL the oil pump gets up to speed and pressure. Not having to depress the clutch when starting, eliminates this source of wear.

BUT be carefull that you get in the habit of placeing the trans in neutral before starting!

Real easy to do. I did it about 2 weeks ago. I sometimes forget I did it and push in the clutch anyway lol.

couldn't we just disconnect the connecter and put a wire in it to jump it. instead of cutting the wire?

Yeah prob...but how hard is it to reconnect the wire after it has been cut...Pretty damn easy sir.

is it best to do this on an aftermarket clutch or is stock okay too?

There is really no point to do it on a stock clutch. Only the more drastic pressure plates need this modificatin from my understanding. Personally I would do it with anything over a stage 1 clutch but that is just me. I reccomend anyone with an act clutch or comparable to do it regardless of the stage. They have such aggressive pressure plates...

You guys are some Lazy SOB to do this mod. I can see it used for remote start and maybe someone lives in alaska, but lawl!

Good write up though! Think I might do this to the FIT. LOL

You didn't read the thread did you? Thrust bearings need our help with heavy pressure plates sir.

you most likely did it on the wrong wire because the clutch safety mechanism still works after the loop has been cut.

Do ya'll guys still have cruise control? because I know that there is a clutch sensor for cruise control.

haha i was thinking about doing this until i read that you should remember to leave it out of gear when parking. problem for me is that i always leave it in first when i park. oh well. nice DIY anyway.

do you lose cruise control when doing this?

wow i never thought of that! But you have to push the pedal in all the way to start the car, and if u barely push it in with the cruise on, it goes off, so im guessing different sensors??

i by-passed my clutch with a thin wire and i crimped 2 terminals on either side. i pulled the sensor thing out and slipped the terminal in each connection. i dont have to press the clutch to start and i still have cruise control.

hey so the 2 wires from the plug dont need to be connected?

Yes there are two2 sensors on the clutch:

1) clutch has pressure on it (cruise control, shutoff)
2) clutch is fully depressed (starter switch)

Using the second sensor, unplug the harness and put a paper clip in both ends of the connector. Or install a switch somewhere.

*This is also how to make a remote start system work in a manual car. Just don't leave it in gear...

Will do, but I'm just wondering, last week I was on the Highway on cruise control and I put the car on neutral without pressing the clutch and the engine rev'ed to past 6k before i pressed the brake pedal to stop the cruise control... is that normal?

hey doing this does take out your cruise control. its not the big of adeal but yeah it does take it away

OMG! dont cut the wires.... merely take a 2 inch piece of wire, strip both ends, jump across back of switch. To un-do it, merely pull the jumper out.

Thats how I did it.

Didn't on mine.

Just DONT cut the wires. Use a 2 inch jumper and jump the switch from the back.
