These are updated pics. Ended up painting the battery tie and the piece thats holds that hose next to the spark plug cover.

My brother in law and I were painting the rims on the RX8. turned out pretty good. I had about half a can left so I decided to waste it. I havn't seen anyone with a gold IM cover so I thought I should go for it. Let me know what you guys think. I may need to do a couple more coats. Sorry for the bad pics. off my cell phone.

What paint did you use and also how did you re apply the ivtec logo plate? I want to do this, make this into a DIY please!!!

I used Dupli-Color Engine Enamel for high heat resistant. I actually didn't preapply the covers at all. I was thinking of sanding it a little, but i just did light thin coats, waited 5-10 mins in between to cover up then did some thicker coats. I did not remove the
I-VTEC. .lol..I just covered it with painters tape. if anyone has done at least minimal spray painting, this is an easy DIY project. Heck if anyone local would like thiers painted, I can do it for them. just hook it up with a big mac or starbucks or something..:hungry:

RJEP

Not sure what you are refering to. i have not yet found rims for my car that would look in gold with my silver ep.

I was actually thinking of sanding it lightly and primer, but it was like 10 pm and winding as hell in Daly City. So I did a light thin coat of the High Heat resistant paint, waited for it to dry (about 5-8 min) did like 5 - 7 more light thin coats. When it dried, I did about 3 thicker coats. I was a little worried it would not stick or it would drip because of the plastic and wasn't sure if the paint I used would work on plastic, but it turned out great with no runs.

thanks for your feedback. appreciate it. i am not a spammer/post whore alright. i can care less about the amount of posts on here. i'm a starter to this place so i'm still trying to figure out this whole thing by navigating/analyzing/criticizing it. getting the ins and outs on the rules around here so yeah. thanks seriously for letting me know what you think my posts. freedom to speech, freedom to post? of course there are limits, thanks for letting me know to CONSERVE

I have updated pics on the first page. I put a couple more coats on the covers, now it looks deep. I was a little too attached and excited on how the covers looked, that I started to paint other stuff. I painted the battery tie and that piece that holds the hose next to the covers. I think that would be it. It looks better and flows good. I was thinking of painting the air box and/or the fuse box but I think that would have been too much. happy with how it turned out.

since people has changed their schedule with work and Starbucks now close at 12 instead of 24/7, we rarely have those meets.
i make sure to post a thread when we about to have one and see you there.
yeah... let's kick it.
