great idea, if i didnt have the type r rear bumper and lip i would do the same, i would paint it flat black personally...go buy some duplicolor from autozone, thats what i say...lightly sand it with prolly 320? maybe 600 grit first, just to rough it up so it will bond, then wipe it down with laquer thinner to make sure that no contaminents are on the old paint, then make sure its dry, after that, mask and paint...

I was thinking about doing the same thing. Maybe during the summer. Let me know how it turns out.

Don't do it. Just get an HFP rear lip, it has the same kinda look (flat blackish on the bottom). It will look better anyways.

Too much $$$! Painting it will be much cheaper.

painting is less bulk added to the rear and is a more subtle look...maybe he doesnt want the flatter bigger backend too??? hmm???

Probably. I never really liked the EP without some sort of lip kit on it unless it is SLAMMED. Just my opinion.

thats fucking sexy!
thats fucking sexy!
So that is what you were looking! LOL
I have no ideal what was used. When I got my bumper replaced (for the third time; don't ask) I told my painter to paint it flat black. He told me he had just the right paint.
I would assume any spray paint would work if you sanded down the clear coat!

Damn, you beat me to it. I LOVE the half painted Mugen spoiler. Honestly it's one of the nicest touches I've seen on an EP.

I'm gonna try to do this to my TW over the weekend. Wish me luck!
BTW how should I prep the area that needs to be painted? Just sand? Or do I need some sort of adhesion promoter too?
it wouldnt hurt but i just sanded and its yet to come off

Not bad! Id have gone for a warm flat black myself. Give it that HFP rear lip look. Looks even better than a rear lip too. All the look, none of the bulk.

I was cruising through the Duplicolor products looking for something that might look good.
What about vinyl Truck Bed coating?
http://www.duplicolor.com/products/truckbed.html
or
Bumper Coating in black?
http://www.duplicolor.com/products/bumper.html
both have a nice matte look and are scratch and ding resistant. Just a thought
