It's free. But beware of what you are buying. There are 2 types of Navi, one is CD Rom base and the other is DVD. CD-Rom is the older version, it's cheaper, but hold much less info. DVD hold more info, but more expensive, if I'm in the market for a Navi, I'll go pick one with the slide out LCD screen. my .02

On star need to charge monthly fee becasue (as you already pt out) they have a live person to listen to your call. GPS is using the public satellite bandwidth, so it's free. Did you mistaken with XM and Sirus satellite radio?

if you wanted to get fancy you could look into modding in the system from the new accord. and gps is free minus equipment costs. i currently have a handheld unit that i set in my cup-holder to the left of the steering wheel. it doesn't look good, but it works. i'm trying to get fancy... i just need for some people to total a new accord :angel:
