are you running a cat or test pipe?

Stock cat. and I install aftermarket header mide pipe and exhaust, so the dum thing with the sensors still in the car.

Check your sensors again and reset your check engine light.

I remember there was a post about this long time ago, but can't remember what was the answer for my own question, and I try to reset the code and a min. later came back on, so I don't know what else to do.

probably could be your o2 sensor is out/bad.

I going to get the codes from my car and see if anyone has any idea what could be.
Thanks...

You may have to replace your primary o2 sensor.

1166 and 1167 have to do with the Primary O2 sensor. As CastorTroy2 and epshtielsi said, you probably need to replace it. This is what I found on the codes:

P1166 Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater System Electrical Problem
P1167 Air/Fuel Ratio (A/F) Sensor (Sensor 1) Heater System Malfunction
P1298 Electrical Load Detector (ELD) Circuit High Voltage

Regardless, I would try checking for blown fuses and replacing them first because that is a cheap and easy fix if that is indeed the problem.

Check the following fuses for P1166:
#14 (30A) Option Fuse (under the hood)
#2 (20A) Heater Fuse (under the dash)
#4 (10A) ACG (under the dash)

If the #4 fuse is blown, that could explain the P1298. Check those fuses and let us know what is up. If they are okay, we can go from there.

It sounds like the heater section of the O2 sensor took a shit on you. This will cause the P1298 ELD code when the heater shorts out causing a huge drain on the ELD, thusly popping the code. The ELD is only a amp gauge that reads the main electrical line draw and sends that reading to the ECU to bump the idle up and down as required.

Check and make sure the wires to the sensor are not shorted to ground(and check the o2 sensor heater section with a meter as well to verify it is toast) Replace the o2 sensor.

I will check on it. and post back...

its a primary sensor problem....it might be going bad.....or is no good anymore...

check your wires, if you stretched them will putting on the header they could of gotten damaged and then you will need to replace it. just check everything that everyone else said. start with visually inspecting everything like the fuses since they are cheaper to replace than a sensor. if they are fine next go to the sensor and if it's bad replace it. you have a test light or a multimeter?

but before I did the headers and exhauls, I didn't have any problems with this codes.

I was throwing the exact same codes after a piece of truck retread few off an 18-wheeler, messed up my front end, and went under the car and raped my primary o2 sensor. I just went to the dealer and bought a new primary. No more CELs, problem solved.

I'm 100% sure it's your primary o2 sensor.

hopefully that didnt happen on that header and 02 extensions I bought a while back from you... lol

Before I bought my car it had a CEL. I pulled the codes and it had like 4, lol. Turned out they were all related to 1 o2 sensor. Quick fix, unfortunate that the sensors cost a fortune on these things.

anything will go bad if I don't change it?

I will but not now.

not thread jacking but i have the exact same codes. subscribed. haha.

now, i've had my dcrh on for about 2 years with a Casper O2 sim. As soon as I installed the dcrh, I got the check engine light. The sim didn't work. I didn't care but now that i'm getting my car ready to sell, I decided to work on it. I installed a defouler and that didn't work either. I just scanned my car (rented a scan tool from autozone...sweet) and i have the same codes. Before I drop the bones on a new O2 sensor, I read in the manual that some codes will delete after several days of driving. Is this true? Should I hold out or drop the bones on a new Primary or Secondary O2 sensor (which one)?

I've got the same three codes. Instead of messing around diagnosing each code, I'm just going to change the O2 sensor out. I'll let you know if it clears them.

P1298
P1166
P1167

Thanks...

Update. I changed out the primary 02 sensor and that cleared 1166 and 1167. It's still kicking out 1298. I've got no fuses blown, so I'm going to just change out the ELD ($32 from my honda dealer). I'll let you know how that works out.
