Hi everyone! Im new to the site, I joined because I'm considering buying a ep3 as my next daily driver car since my current daily driver (tiburon 2007) is a gas sipper.
I just want to make a good buy, what I should look for when buying one of these ep3? common damaged parts, known issues, etc etc
thanks for your help.
and as a bonus, a pic of my ride (180 whp)

Just a heads up, if you're looking for fuel economy you can do a lot better than an EP3.
As for potential problems, look out for a creaking steering rack and 2nd and 3rd gear grinding.
Welcome and good luck

Im sure there are other cars with better fuel rating than the ep3, like the honda fit, the toyota yaris and even the nissan versa, but I find the ep3 is a very nice looking car. and I have heard of people obtaining up to 27 mpg with them

Yeah, if you drive it gently it does pretty good. Just wanted to make sure you don't have your expectations set too high.
Your Tibby looks good. What's all done to it?

well thanks! not big stuff done on the car, just lowered it (espelir springs) paint the stock rims to black, removed the spoiler, instaled HID kit (6k), installed headers, custom 2"5 inches exhaust with single muffler, Apex SAFC, aeromotive Fuel presure regulator and Webcamshaft Cams.

I have obtained as high as about 32 mpg highway depending on how I drive. As for what to look out for these are the known issues with the car (not many):
-creaky steering rack
-squeaky clutch pedal
-2nd/3rd gear grinds
About the gear grinds, I've never grinded my 3rd gear and only grinded 2nd on rare occasions when downshifting at high rpm and not fully depressing the clutch pedal (you can shift by pressing the clutch in a little more than half way if you have good clutch feel). When downshifting at high rpm and actually taking the time to clutch in all the way the grind goes away. So the grinding issues are pretty much user error not a tranny defect.
I would try and find a nice 2004/2005 EP3 as they have nicer looking headlights, tail lights, 16'' rims, side skirts, auto up/down for windows, and have a steering rack that is known to be less creaky.

Finding a ep3 where I live is not very easy, I live in Puerto Rico and ep3's are not very popular here (all other hondas are popular though) But I have my eyes put on two

The first one looks good but there is no milage listed. The second one is way over priced if those values are in USD. No way is a 2005 worth $14k with almost 60k miles on it and those headlights are not even from a 2005 model. They are 02/03 headlights. Whoever is selling that thing is on drugs.
