View Full Version : Wetsanding headlight problems!!

i started to wetsand my headlight then i think i messed it up:shakehead.. the lens started to become opaque...
i first used the 3m wetsand paper with 1000grid , then 1500, and finally 2000 grid..
people please help:pray:

ouch! maybe you have to coat it with some wax?

its ok man dont trip...i had some scratches on mine and did the same thing...you can actually get a polish wax for plastic and use a good buffer...it should come out easily.

got to your local auto parts store and grab some plastic-x. This will make it clear again. finish it off with buffing wax.

yeah no problem...it will also help if you can actually sand it some more with a finer grit that way it will come out more clear. I think i used Meguiars plastx with a buffer and it came out just fine.

did you keep a hose on it the entire time or did you just get it wet?
if you let the grit build up on the lens as you sand it will do that.
I did mine with a hose on them and 2000 grit and just worked it for about half an hour. came out crystal clear and then I just gave it a buffing with a fine cut buffing liquid

Yeah wetsanding helps a lot...but you should be ok...just sand it a little more with watter and then you should be ready to go with the buffer.

i'm going to have to do the same thing, did some damage to my headlights while blacking them out. Got crazy with the heat gun.....use and oven next time i guess.

meguirs has a plastic scratch repair I think it is in a yellow bottle :mrolleyes:
