Use Tie rod separator.

Use Tie rod separator.
That will tear the boot, you need a puller.

(I mean, I used a block of wood and a hammer, but the "correct" way is with a puller. You can use a tie rod separator, just buy the boot in advance.)

search.....i think you just push on it and slowly turn it, it will lock back in....it takes time. some one correct me on this if i am wrong but i believe i read this the other day somewhere on here.

for the axel, reach in and feel where there are the three lumps on the boot off the engine, you can spin it to feel these if you like. Now squeeze these lumps inward. now push the axel back in. what happens is these are the bearings and they are spring loaded out to do their job, once they are pulled out of the housing they spring out too far to go back in the housing, squeeze them in and you are good to go.

ok guys i installed my springs on sunday and followed the directions given here....http://k-series.com/tech_document.php?id=5..... everything went rather smoothly, but i have a few suggestions...

First off- this (for me) was definitely a two man job. This was the first time i have installed springs of any kind and i dont see how i could have done this myself, but with two sets of hands it went rather smoothly.

Second- In the instructions where it tells you to put a piece of wood under the tie rod end and hit upward with a hammer... DONT do this! i tweaked my tie rod end and ended up having to buy a new one for $46 :mcry:
I consulted a mechanic i know for help to get the tie rod loose... he
said to simply hit the side of the strut that connects to the tie rod
with a hammer....sure enough on the third hit it came loose very
easily!!

Third- dont be scared to get a crow bar in there to help move things around
when putting the strut and shock assembly back into place! It will help a
great deal!!

Fourth- DO NOT FORGET torque specs.... that is one thing that is over looked
on the instructions that are given, this link will help http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44635

Fifth- dont forget to put grease at the bottom and top of your springs to help
prevent squeaks.

Other than that i had a blast putting them in.... it took me the better half of the the day, but i considered that pretty good considering the few kinks i ran into and it being my first time.... I wish i would have taken a few more pictures, but i didnt think i was going to do a good enough job for it to be any help... but in hindsight i should have.

I hope this helps anyone who had concerns or that it might motivate a newbie to get ambitious and get out there and do some work!!

(I want more mods!)

I was working with crank spring compressors.... sure would have been nice if i had a stand alone spring compressor, definitely would have knocked some time off!

still not sure how you did it by yourself haha .... props!

tie rods are gay. if its stuck, and u dont know how to take it out properly, itll make the job twice as long, and your going to need a new one lol.
