Okay Ive read several posts on this matter, so here is what I have noticed all of a sudden just in the past two days. Only when I make left hand turns at speeds between like 20 and 50 mph, I hear a noise that sounds sort of like a grinding or chattering. Maybe a little bit like squirrels fighting.

Is this the dreaded steering rack squeak, and will the dealership cover this under the powertrain warranty?

the rack creak is when you brake or accelerate.

well i went to the stealership because the shop foreman is a friend of a friend and he went for a loop of the parking lot with me and he says he thinks its the brake pads. He says theyve just ever so slightly worn down to the little metal thing on one pad, and when you turn the rotor flexes ever so slightly, and he thinks that is whats causing the scraping noise.

for dd? just get another set or oem pads, or you can check out tirerack.com. they have the satisfied gransports, which are a performance street pad, for about $50 per axel set.
