I am going to trackday on this coming weekend!! I using 215/45/17 for my ep now. I have not enough money to afford 4 tires of azenis, so i only can change 2 of the front tires for azenis. But i do have enough $ for 4 tires for others. Anyone know about Sumitomo HTR Z or HTR Z II? or Falken Azenis RT 615? And any recommendation for me?!

Sumitomo HTR Z:
Treadwear 160
Traction AA
Temp A
Price: $65-$80

Sumitomo HTR Z II
Treadwear 220
Traction AA
Temp A
Price: $75-$90

Falken Azenis RT 615:
Treadwear 160
Traction AA
Temp A
Price: $115-$140

All i can say is when i go to an Autocross 6/10 people are rocking the rt-615's. And my buddy who had cheaper performance tires could only do two runs because on the third his tires turned to foam, and he pushed hard into like 5 cones. So don't go too cheap if your racing. Tires are what keeps your car out of the gravel and off the wall.

I would highly suggest spending a little more on the rubber. I am running Bridgestone RE01R's which are the top contenders in the street tire class. Or you could wait on Bridgestones release of the RE11R which posted a 1 second faster on Tsukuba over the RE01Rs.

But if you can't afford these, then i would say go with the Falkens RT615's because they are a competitive tire!

Sumotumo's i haven't seen on any cars in my region.....

Definately spend the extra money on tires. Trying to rock semi-decient tires sucks....trust me!

you mean like our stocks? :P

I prefer Falken. They tear away fast but when they still have life they grip

If you are auto-crossing, I highly recommend that you carry a set of tires for racing only and another set to drive around it. It really helps with using the tires properly.

But you guys think if i only changed 2 of the front tires for rt 615, is it still better than change 4 of the cheap tires? rt615

If you've never done either before... then dont buy tires specifically for compitition yet.

Your best bet is 4 new Falken 615s. If you can't swing that then just get 2 for the front and then when you can afford two more rotate the old ones to the back of the car.

I have never run the Hankooks, but several people I have driven against have and they didn't like them. Hankook had the 225/45/15 size that everyone wanted, but the grip of the tire was disappointing I was told by at least 3 different people who moved to other tires.

I've had both the rt615 205/50 and have been running the hankook rs2's for 18 months now in 225/50. The difference in grip is very slim, but even though both are stated at 200 treadwear, the falkens still wear much faster.

I like the hankooks personally, but that's not to say I didnt like the rt615.
