The bigger the wheel gets the smaller the tire sidewall gets. I think 18 is the largest you can go reasonably. You might get a 19 in there if you run a rubberband for a tire. To keep the stock size you'll have to run something like a 215-30-19 that leaves you with a 2.5 inch side wall down from the stock 4.6 inches.

You will kill the ride and the handling of the car with an 18 or a 19. a lot of people think 17 is to big.

PS welcome to Ephatch if you are new

Here is a picture of 18's on an ep. I really don't know the suspension set-up at all, but I think the tires are 225/30 or 215/30. The car belongs to another member.

The biggest I would go with would be a 17 x 7.5

ok, I have similar question: my ep3 has standard wheels with 205/55/16 tires. Can I put for example 205/50/16 tires without changing wheels?

yes, but your speedo will be off slightly because of the smaller total rolling diameter. someone posted this before the major fail of the site, but you can use this to get a good read on matching up tire and wheel sizes.

I think this is a good tire size calculator.

YOu can squeeze a slightly larger wheel than stock but the width may require some fender rolling to prevent rubbage.

17 (18 is tooo big, it's a front wheel drive.....) the type-R came w/17's factory, it's not too big!!

215/45/17 safely or 225/45/17 depending on your offset (may have to trim/roll rear fenders only) this req 7-8" wide wheels
