When you say, "turns off" do you mean the power kills to the unit completely, or does it go off as if you'd pushed the power button?

hows your battery voltage? Mine does that when i pump the bass too loud. Found my voltage dropping too low thats why it was doing that.

Kinda sounds like something to do with the wire harness, if you press on the head unit at all will the face dim out?

Start by checking all your connections you made. You may have missed a crimp cap or solder joint.

One common mistake is a wire getting pinched by installation. Check to make sure all wires are not pinched. For instance, running speaker wire and it gets pinched by installing plastic trim. Or speaker terminal is touching the body and causes the sound to go in and out. Maybe like somebody else said, check your wiring harness to make sure all is tight. First thing I'll do is, (if available) put another head unit in and try to duplicate the problem.

I believe its a loose wire, Having worked in a car audio shop for a few months, there were a few of these problems from outside sorces getting there shit installed at other places or by the owner of the car, its most likly the harness that is being used for the head unit is crap and is not holding into the radio, and vibrations/bumps or any other form of movement that moves the head unit one way and the wiring another way thats causing it, or it could be somethign is shorting out. Best bet is to check the wiring.
